Astory released today covering the departing US Ambassador, and his heartfelt comments about Julia Gillard and her career post politics says many things.

Either – the US don’t believe the AWU scandal can touch Gillard, or they don’t mind being associated with a former Prime Minister who is a criminal and have their ‘on the record’ comments recorded.

Why would they do that – why would they pledge their continued support and loyalty unless they owed Gillard on some policy decisions she may have made in office that the US owe her for – i.e. US military base in NT with troop deployment for one.

The story was reported by “The Australian” and appears below:

Julia Gillard to remain figure on world stage, says US Ambassador Jeffrey Bleich

| Author: National Times | Date: July 3rd, 2013 | Link to On-Line Story. |

US Ambassador to Australia Jeffrey Bleich has tipped a future on the world stage for Julia Gillard, praising the former prime minister as an “extraordinarily talented and well-respected” person.

“She made a great impression on myself and on President (Barack) Obama and other leaders in the United States,” Mr Bleich said today.

“I know she will continue to play an important role in the US-Australia relationship and continue to be a respected figure on the world stage.”

Mr Bleich could soon be leaving his post as US ambassador with the same Australian prime minister in charge – Kevin Rudd – as when he started his tenure in late 2009.

But he says the US doesn’t cast judgment on the Labor leadership dramas, because both Mr Rudd and Ms Gillard had done nothing but bolster ties with his country.

“We have some pretty funny politics in the US too,” Mr Bleich told reporters at the US embassy today.

“So we don’t throw stones at how other nations choose their leaders and the process in which leadership changes hands.”

Mr Bleich celebrated what could be his last July 4 celebration in Canberra as ambassador today, with his replacement recently nominated by Mr Obama.

John Berry, an openly gay diplomat and close friend of the president, must first be confirmed by the US Senate before the appointment is sealed and he sets off for Canberra.

Mr Bleich said Mr Berry was an outstanding candidate for the diplomatic role who also knew “quite a bit” about Australia.

He said he wasn’t sure when he’d be replaced or what the future held for him.

AAP

Ambassador Bleich’s comments on face value seem like any ordinary message by an outgoing Diplomat leaving good will and good cheer for all those left behind.

But in this case – his comments give legitimacy to Gillard’s Leadership when he would be aware she is under a police investigation into a serious fraud.

It is reasonable to accept the US does business with Tyrant style leaders all around the world, past and present, what we don’t expect is for them to treat Australia with such contempt in the face of Gillard’s AWU history, and the fact that the CIA file on Gillard would be as incriminating as the AWU missing files.

The US want Foreign Leaders who support and foster US interest’s – so it is safe to assume that Gillard was a staunch ally of the US – else the CIA file on Gillard would have leaked.

If Gillard is charged, the comments made by the outgoing US Ambassador will mean nothing to most Australian’s, but for those who take these things seriously, it will mean a significant loss of face for the US to have been so supportive of a Leader with a criminal background.

The US are good at their job – we know that much through some of the Wikileaks information revealed in recent years … and more recently the Snowden revelations.

Perhaps Obama’s friendship with Gillard was more than diplomats just bumping into one another or up against one another in the night.

Rudd’s willingness to grasp what can only be described as a ‘poisoned chalice’, and willing walk into the ALP caucus caldron proves his courage of a sorts … was it ego or does he truly believe he is the messiah, the chosen one to resurrect the flawed ALP?

The 57-45 result represents only a margin of 6 votes – and they all swung on the back of Shorten’s public switch to Rudd.  This is still a divided caucus and Rudd’s task is herculean – is he up to it?

Rudd’s ego is well documented – larger than most in a political sense, and all added to since his inability to deal with his dumping some three years ago.  Given the two days back in the job – has he learnt that ‘less is more’.

The Press Conference:

Rudd’s first extensive Press conference was a wide-ranging affair and tried to cover all topics.  If Rudd should have learnt something for his stint on the backbench, he should have realised that the way to earn Party loyalty is to let your Ministry shine – let them have their moments without being hand-held – let then live and die by their own performance and give the Leader distance.

This was Hawke’s success, strong Ministers with the publics support because they knew their Ministers and their abilities.

At yesterdays press conference, Rudd gave the media a free shot and he again try to prove he is the man.  Rudd’s eagerness to answer questions across a wide range of topics he has been out of the loop on for some time, only gave the media ammunition for their want to pin him to the cross for dumping Gillard.

The media are having a field day with some of the comments he let fly when ‘less would have meant more’.

Paul Kelly penned two stories overnight – when was the last time he did that –  the first titled:  “Kevin Rudd broke every rule in the book” linked in full here – an extract appears below:

KEVIN Rudd’s warning of conflict with Indonesia is a reckless mistake that betrays the sheer depth of Labor’s frustration over its failure to stop the boats.

Rudd broke every rule in the book for dealing with Indonesia. His remarks misread Jakarta, risk the prospects for co-operation and are unwarranted on the basis of Tony Abbott’s turning the boats policy.

Rudd’s injection of possible conflict with Indonesia into his domestic row with Abbott over how to stem boat arrivals is irresponsible for an Australian prime minister.

Even if Abbott’s turning-the-boats stand proves futile it does not justify the over-reach Rudd displayed yesterday at his first media conference as recalled Prime Minister.

This testifies to the incredible political burden Labor has thrust on to Rudd and which he has willingly grabbed.

Rudd’s reference to past conflicts and invoking Konfrontasi during the 1960s, when Australian forces were involved against Indonesia, is extraordinary. Making these remarks just days before Rudd’s anticipated visit to Indonesia for talks with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is even more extraordinary … continues

All the media are on heightened alert – after a week of shark feeding and speculation they have the taste of blood with Gillard’s demise and are now focused on their next prey – it is to be Rudd or Abbott – at the moment they see Rudd as most vulnerable and if he survives intact, Abbott will become the target if he can’t make traction against Rudd.

Kelly’s story above is a ‘Himalayan’ molehill – he has taken comments Rudd made in his Press conference yesterday and gone beyond journalistic license. The full transcript of Rudd’s Press conference can be read – here – a sample of the Q&A about which Kelly wrote is produce below:

JOURNALIST: One of the policy issues you’ve had trouble with last time and I don’t think you mentioned so far today is asylum seekers and boats.  Will you be going to Indonesia to see the Indonesian President to discuss it?

And what philosophical position will you have in dealing with the boats?

Will you be trying to for example, will you be saying you’re going to stop the boats or will you be trying to manage them or encourage people to come in a more orderly way under regional processing?

PM: The great thing about this country is we have long believed in a system of orderly migration.

The problem with the current situation is that I really fear that we begin to see some fragmentation for the overall national support for a system of orderly migration in Australia.

That has stood us so well since the days of Arthur Calwell way back in the post-war period.

We actually have to be very attentive to a basic national interest, which is to sustain broad public support for a system of orderly migration.Secondly, on the question of Indonesia, I will be briefed this afternoon by colleagues who’ve been working on the proposed visit to Indonesia and following that briefing, of course, I will announce a decision about going to Jakarta.

I will be speaking with President Yudhoyono sometime after I finish with you good folk here this afternoon in Canberra.

I would also if I went to went to Indonesia be speaking frankly on the much broader questions of our common national security interests.

On top of that, a really big one, which is I am concerned about Mr Abbott’s policy where he says that he can turn the boats back to Indonesia as he states, and when he states now more recently, only when safe; and when the Indonesian Government says they will not accept such a policy.

I’m very concerned about whether if Mr Abbott were to become Prime Minister and continues that rhetoric and that posture and actually tries to translate it into reality, I really wonder whether he’s trying to risk some sort of conflict with Indonesia.

It’s not a good thing.

It’s a really bad thing.

Let me tell you, if you are a student of the Australia/Indonesia relationship which I have been since the days of the late forties until now, there’ve been some pretty tough times in the relationship.

I never want to see that happen again.

A quarter of a billion people live to the north of us.

We have a huge national interest in having a working relationship with them.

On the question of the attitude I bring to bear on asylum seekers, it will be in the national interest, mindful of the need to sustain popular support for the overall integrity of the migration program.

Paul Kelly has gone too far in his critique and reveals he also suffers from the same infected weakness all media have – a want to tear down and embellish.  Kelly’s take on the words Rudd spoke were corkscrewed to suit his story, as opposed to treating them at their face value.

Kelly’s second story was titled: For Kevin Rudd, it’s policies on the run” linked in full here – an extract appears below:

IT is the same smooth Kevin Rudd but this time he is under huge pressures and short of time — hence his blunder about warning of conflict with Indonesia, his floating a plebiscite on same-sex marriage, and his scare that Tony Abbott will mean a “slash and burn” recession.

Politics is now an unpredictable wild ride. Hold on to your seat. The resurrected Rudd is relaxed but obsessed about presenting himself as a reformed man — he talks endlessly about colleagues, cabinet consultations, proper decision-making, considered policy and bringing the country together. This Kevin, unlike the previous Kevin, is no one-man band. That’s his promise.

But if Rudd has any prepared game plan beyond a few long-harboured ideas it is not evident. He is making it up as he goes. For Rudd, it is improvisation on the run and that is high risk. The flaws are now on display; witness his comments about Indonesia.

Rudd is running on his instincts. What are they? We have many signals and lots of clues. He wants to settle down and govern, even for a short time. He regards Julia Gillard’s September 14 election date as untenable. He prefers an election a bit later. There will be no immediate poll.

Rudd is very keen to attend the G-20 St Petersburg head of government summit in early September and he is right to believe our PM must go. Given the election’s proximity, he flirts with the idea of taking Tony Abbott with him, thereby ensuring the elected PM would be ready to manage the 2014 G-20 meeting in Australia… continues

Once again Kelly is engaged in opinion journalism and inflames the debate beyond the words Rudd spoke … it would appear there is no honeymoon period and the new Government and returning backbenchers can expect fire when ever the opportunity arises.

This was also evidenced in the new Treasurer’s – [Chris Bowen’s] – grilling just hours into the new job.  Why he took the interview request is understandable – but he had to know that he would be asked questions he could not answer given his ‘out of the loop’ backbench position since March.

Leigh Sales from the 7:30 Report did the grilling and Bowen used extraordinary restraint in his responses – he should have given Sales a list of what he would be prepared to talk about given his short time in the new job.

Sales asked questions to try and put Bowen on the spot … see full transcript and video of interview here –  a sample of Sale’s question and Bowen’s responses appears below:

LEIGH SALES: Do you see some areas that do require addressing?

CHRIS BOWEN: Well the policy is in place. It’s working well, despite the fear campaign of the Opposition who said that towns would close down and the economy would grind to a halt. We’ve seen many thousands of jobs created, we’ve seen economic growth continue, we’ve seen emissions fall. So carbon pricing actually works. And the Opposition, who says they have the same targets for reducing emissions has a policy which every expert in the field says will not work.

LEIGH SALES: Is it possible that you would suggest some changes to that policy and take some changes to the election?

CHRIS BOWEN: Well, Leigh, if you’re asking me today on my first day as Treasurer to say that I will never recommend any change to any government policy at any point in the future, well I’m not going to do that.

LEIGH SALES: No, I’m just asking what’s in play.

CHRIS BOWEN: Well, I’m not going to do that. But what I am saying is that our policy is in place. It’s been legislated through a tough process. We got it through the Parliament through a tough process. John Howard tried to – or promised to implement a carbon price. It didn’t happen. Carbon pricing has been very controversial on both sides of the political divide. It’s caused frankly some headaches for leaders of both parties, but it’s now in place and it’s now the policy and law of the land and it’s a good achievement.

LEIGH SALES: Let me ask you about perhaps a more pressing matter, which is the Gonski education reforms. There is a deadline on the table for agreement from the states on that for this Sunday. Is that now off the table?

CHRIS BOWEN: Well, again, I know the Prime Minister is working through the issues and I know he’s looking forward to discussing those issues with various state premiers. This is an important reform, and yes, we have seen some progress, particularly in my home state of New South Wales and South Australia and the ACT.

LEIGH SALES: And just to be clear, do they still have to sign up by Sunday?

CHRIS BOWEN: Well, Leigh, the Prime Minister is obviously looking forward to discussing these issues with the premiers …

LEIGH SALES: What, tomorrow?

CHRIS BOWEN: Well he’s being briefed on a whole range of issues on his – he’s been Prime Minister now for less than a day, Leigh, and I know he’s been taking calls from foreign leaders and he’s also looking forward to meeting the premiers and talking through the issues that are outstanding in terms of implementation of important reforms.

LEIGH SALES: As the Treasurer, do you believe that there’s sufficient accountability built into the current Gonski plan to make sure that the money being spent will improve outcomes?

Once again – ‘less could be more’ – the Ministry don’t owe the Media – the media’s job is to report the news not to try and make the news.

Trying to catch a Minister in a word-trap is the ‘game’ played by all journalist and in the past all Ministers have happily try to make themselves look smarter – how often do they fail?   This is the main reason ALP Ministers were reluctant to give Andrew Bolt of “The Bolt Report” a crack at them.

To be the ALP saviour Rudd has to try to fully transform himself from a media ‘whore’ to a media ‘frugal’ – a ‘Howard Hughes’ example is a bridge too far, but someone like “Dame Edna” would be great – someone with a wit to spoil any reporter with a political agenda.  Someone who can deal with the media and put them in their place if they ask a stupid question.

How often have you cringed when a reporter asked a question beyond the scope of the interview – why is it that the media is allowed to ask a dumb question and the Minister tries to answer the question – why don’t they just say – ‘that’s a stupid question’.  Fry them on camera and allow the people to know that you know when a question is a dumb question.   It may get edited out, but other media outlets will show it to score points … make the media feed on themselves rather than feast on the Government.

Conditioning the media to a ‘less is more’ policy will not be an easy task – passive intimidation works – and the Minister’s must be the one who have the confidence to do it.  First – Rudd must set the example.

Feeding them ‘less scraps’ will go a long way to helping the media learn how to become journalist’s again and immerse themselves in background research necessary to expose real Government corruption and stories that have accountable outcomes.

Given the Obeid revelations during the ICAC hearings – why were journalists not on that story before it was revealed?

The Tony Burke and Stephen Conroy use of the Obeid ski-lodge – who in the media are working on that story and how it came about?

The Torbay involvement with Obeid – surely that is also a story worth covering and getting to the bottom of.   The media have become lazy letting and expecting MP’s do their work for them.

The trouble is that stories like these are beyond the investigative abilities of most of our current journalists – they are all about the career story off the back of some leaked scoop … and their editors encourage this ‘postage stamp’ type story.  To be honest most are only worth scraps … yet they feast on prime meat.

To ensure an ALP survival and an election contest – Rudd and his Ministry have to control the media to suit their own agenda,  give them nothing they can leverage and so build negative coverage – again ‘less is more’.

Ministers and Backbenchers who continue to background the media should be dealt with over their lack of Party loyalty – if a Leader can’t get that condition then the caucus is not as one – and the Leadership flawed …

Ministers and caucus members know this already and in the post Gillard environment,  Rudd can expect to receive the same treatment his supporters did to Gillard.  He has to be aware of this and be on top of it.  Unless this is addressed and Rudd can prove he has changed – the loyalty of the full caucus will always be doubtful.

This MP love affair with the media has created an over-exposure issue for the Government, we want to see and hear less of and about Government – just the rewards of successful good Government.

The eagerness for Ministers and other spokesperson to get air-time to build their own media profile has fed the problem.   Rudd should encourage their media contact in an environment with other Ministers – i.e. the Cabinet holds a weekly or fortnightly Cabinet Press Conference.

This type of media conciliation has been advocated on this site previously without anyone making comment about flaws of such a proposal.  Comment is welcome …

Social media has fed the media cycle – scoop upon scoop and get it out there as fast as you can before someone else gazumps the story.   If they have nothing then it will burn itself out – rather then individual Twitter or Facebook accounts, have Ministerial accounts and all press releases are only put on social media for the public interest, and after given to mainstream media outlets.

Journalists with their secret sources to Ministers and Party politics is a destructive element that makes journalist believe they have a sense of entitlement – MP’s feeding their ego with these types of relationships with journalists contribute to the problem.

You truncate that source and those journalist with inside scoops become obsolete – I’m sure the public would welcome less political speculation and inside stories in lieu of real stories based on facts and public interest.

It is a tough ask for Rudd to shrink from the limelight and let his Ministers shine – the ‘less is more’ policy will work and perhaps stabilise Leadership.

Richo wrote an article this morning that has him convinced that Labor has a chance at the next election – this after a single day of change … read full story here

One of the more serious matters Rudd has to deal with is the Union’s and the ogre of Bill Ludwig.

Rudd has to be seen to doing something about making all Unions more accountable and open with regard to finances and where members funds are being spent.

An area where headway can be made in this area is the process of pre-selection of ALP candidates … opening the pre-selection process and making it more equitable for non-union affiliated candidates would be a start.   This will require an ALP charter and not likely to happen overnight – but statements by union heads to enter into talks about addressing the issue would go some way to allaying concerns.

Imagine Rudd’s current existence and having a nest of vipers in the room with him never knowing when one or several are going to strike.

Plibeseck is someone who advocated herself as a Rudd hater –  there were others but Plibeseck is the only one left who has that feminist persona that never forgives nor forgets … Rudd would do well to sink her somewhere away from the access chamber.

Of the 57 votes he had, less than 40 or so are true Rudd supporters … the rest are that motley crew flip-flopping because they want some one to save their reelection. They are dead weight to Rudd in a real clutch and have proven themselves to be less then faithful, loyal, and deserving of public office.

Rudd has much to do to save the ALP brand and his ‘House of Pain’ is real.

Bill Shorten looks like a hunted man – his struggle to get the words out in his press conference before the ballot last night appeared genuine and heartfelt.

People like ‘Insiders’ Barry Cassidy saw that as a personal conflict because of a divided loyalty … the fact is Shorten moved to get rid of Rudd three years ago, and was again forced to move to get rid of Gillard in favour of Rudd last night.

Who is Bill Shorten – ex AWU boss and Ludwig puppet – what Shorten does is what Bill Ludwig Snr wants … so it can only be assumed that Shorten’s move last night was at the bequest of Bill Ludwig, Gillards staunchest supporter and the real ALP ‘kingmaker’.

Why did Ludwig switch support – had Gillard gone rogue on her AWU support base – not so according to AWU boss Paul Howes only a matter of days and hours before the spill last night.  It was fear of the election defeat and decimation of the ALP.

Will the ALP learn that when Unions rule the roost the ALP is at its weakest?

In the wash up and after the Gillard ‘wake’ – the questions will become quick-fire on the Shorten/Howes/Ludwig roles in what has happened over the last three years.

Labor finds itself where it was in 2010 – Rudd as Leader and facing an election – the difference is where the poll numbers are stacked … Rudd and Shorten – can that relationship ever be trusted from either side – Shorten knows that Rudd knows that Ludwig knows, that Rudds revival is to try and save the ALP over what Rudd knows, and Shorten knows, as Ludwig knows was all of their own making.

[Hope there is not to many ‘knows’ in that alignment.]

The other idiot that needs to find a hole is Conroy – he fell on his sword over Ministerial positions but he also needs to resign from the Senate … he is just such an embarrassment … Wong gets her chance to shine and should have gone there before Gillard promoted Conroy …

Tony Burke apparently offered his resignation yet Rudd refused.  Perhaps there is reconciliation in the air!

Emerson is leaving to console Julia and their shared parliamentary pension will allow them to live a lifestyle for a period – Gillards goal cell awaits and the cost of a defence to keep her out will keep them both poor for a while

But it all swings back to Shorten and what role he now plays …

Any tears for Shorten and his tough decision are wasted, the man knows only one way to lie in bed – the Union way and his ambitions are still there.   If Rudd loses the election – a 60% chance – and Shorten becomes Leader the ALP are a party done with the electorate …

Shorten’s tenure in any capacity now and after the election is what Roman tragedies are all about … his role can only every be as a messenger acting on instructions from persons outside the parliament – that can never be allowed to happen.

If Shorten’s position last night was him acting to distance himself from Ludwig and Howes then that has to be made public.

What is very noticeable is that the roll out of commentary across all the TV media and news is all focused on the ALP – the Coalition will be surprised at how hard it is for them to get any air time to speak …

The ABC ALP bias is very alive and for the next few days Abbott will be hung drawn and quartered and any attempt to get air time will have to be purchased with election war chest funds …

Another point if note is why Wayne Swan still going to contest his marginal seat of Lilly … is it because an MP ejected gets a better crack at the Parliamentary pension scheme … or is he after his own form of payback given his anti Rudd stance that will run front and center in the Coalition’s election  campaign?

The question on whether the Union factions still have control over the caucus remains a real issue for many disenfranchised ALP supporters.   The Howes/Ludwig AWU franchise, along with the HSU/Thompson/Williamson dramas have convinced Australians that all Unions are steeped in corruption – they want nothing to do with Unions and that will be an afterbirth issue Rudd will have to deal with if the ALP are to retain long term support.

One thing is certain – the current Leadership team have targeted Abbott’s lack of clarity as their election ramp … challenge Abbott’s ability to lead and you gain clear air if it sticks …

With the House rising for the last time before the schedules Sept 14th election, and that is still to be confirmed by Rudd – perhaps this afternoon – but with the Parliament closed much of the introspection will be done away from the media and public view.

And yes – QLD won the State of Origin and it was a thrashing …

In all truth, what has Gillard offered in the time she has been Prime Minister?   What has she done to advance Governance, to foster Australian unity, to create confidence, to make Australian lives less stressful …

The image at right is Gillard being a ‘whore’ – dressed up and presenting herself to attract votes – ALP voters who deserted her in droves.

For every vote she wins she gets $2.51 from the AEC for her party … the ‘whore’ tag is appropriate and truthful – as is the criminal background, as is the tripe she has fed this Nation for all her time as PM.

Who gives a toss about who she knits for … this is McTernan and his ‘pimp’ efforts to prostitute Gillard for the media and to reason with her caucus colleagues that she has the goods.

Her desperation in avoiding the police investigation awaiting her has made her deranged … and this Nation is the worse for having to endure it.

Australia is done with women in politics in Leadership roles for a long time – it is appropriate to consider Gillard’s as a misandryist failure and someone who plays  the sexist card whenever under pressure.

It is appropiate to pose the same scenario of all past female Leaders this Nation has had – i.e. State Premiers, Keneally, Bligh, Kirner, and Lawrence – all ALP Premiers and all booted from office in landslide defeats.

What did these women ever do or create or legislate that made a difference with the power they had when they lead their States?

A story 12 months ago about Joan Kirner had her looking to get special considerations to enable her to receive a parliamentary pension – read story here …  Herald Sun – June 16, 2012

VICTORIAN Premier Ted Baillieu has refused to get involved in providing a parliamentary pension for former state premier Joan Kirner.

The former Victorian Labor leader, who left politics in 1992, is said to now face financial pressures since she was never given a parliamentary pension.

Ms Kirner served less than the required 15 years in office to qualify.

But the current premier said he would not step in to fix the matter.

“I’m not going to make any presumptions about Joan’s situation or what she might be seeking or need,” Mr Baillieu told reporters today.

“But no one has approached the government in that regard, and when it comes to the trust fund, that’s a matter for the trustees.”

Ms Kirner’s financial issues were first raised during an ABC 7.30 Victoria interview with former state police chief Christine Nixon.

“Joan is a very proud woman,” Ms Nixon told the ABC in a Friday night broadcast, adding that she was shocked to hear Ms Kirner doesn’t have a parliamentary pension.

“She has a lot of medical expenses and she’s not well,” she said.

“Some assistance financially would be greatly appreciated.”

Parliamentary pensions are managed by trustees made up of a bi-partisan committee.

Can you believe the affront to ask or have someone else ask for a pension when under the rules no pension is due … if any other non-parliamentarian asked for the same deal how would the trustees respond …

Anna Bligh has had her own health issues – she quit her elected seat less than a month after being elected at the last QLD election and forced a bi-election.   The cost of that bi-election was for QLD taxpayers and was only called when Bligh realised she only had 7 other ALP MP’s to join her in a desicmated ALP representation.

What does that say about Bligh – she should have been made to pay for her bi-election … she elected to run and was prepared to serve another term if she won – she should not be able to penalise the voters as taxpayers for voting her out of office …

Gillard’s ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ picture above is how she likes to play her politics – we all know that her true colours have nothing to do with wholesome motherhood – how dare she trash the image of “Mrs Doubtfire” for millions of fans …

The standards for lawyers has much to answer for if Chris McArdle is the best that Craig Thompson could come up with.  After listening to him on Ben Fordham’s 2GB show today – I felt a twinge of sympathy for Thompson.

It did not last long but the NSW Law Society should have a listen and make a judgement call whether he should be amongst those Lawyers registered to practice ..

Listen below to hear the dribble this guy spoke on behalf of a planned fundraiser for Thompson to help pay legal fees – fees owed to McArdle …

What do ya think … the clue was that this guy was serious … wanker …

Who said history was a roadmap to the future … never was it more true than in the case of Julia Gillard!

As her Prime Ministership lurches from one disaster to another in their dying days, her circle of confidants diminishes, her public appearances become more bazaar, and her poll numbers shrink to Hitler type popularity in his last days, one has to ask – is all this similar to her last days at Slater and Gordon as the AWU fraud began to unravel?

Back then Gillard went willingly because she faced disbarment, and a few other nasty options had she stood her ground and fought.

Of course if she were innocent she would have fought and that is the crux of why she is on so many levels where she is today.

Some 75% of the Nation want her gone and yet she defies all and swears she will stay to the bitter end … even if it means putting her beloved ALP in the wilderness for a decade or more …

Why is she so prepared to fight this battle – yet chose to walk away from the AWU fraud?

To be honest – who thinks she is our elected PM?

She became the PM by stealth and on the back of her AWU friends – she had to sleep with the Independents and the Greens to form a minority Government in 2010 – so in true essence she has never had the support of the people in the true sense of an elected PM.

Why would she not exit – she has qualified for her $6 odd million lifetime taxpayer funder Parliamentary pension plan, and in addition she gets her $1.5 million or so annual taxpayer funded ex PM expense plan – she is set for life financially – why would she grind up against the public opinion polls and those from within her party – i.e. the likes of Ferguson, Crean, Bowen, all Senior Ministers prepared to quit rather than serve under her?

Gillard has lived with 17 odd years of resentment – resentment at the way men dealt with her over the AWU fraud – she felt she was isolated way back then and believed that it was all because she was a woman, she believes she was given no choice other than to take the course of action forced upon her.

The men in her life at the time had her over a barrel and when all done – they left her a woman on a career scrap-heap and all she wanted to do was to blame those men for all her problems.

This is the beginning of her deep resentment toward men – her lawyer career was shredded and gone, her dream of a political career closed and gone, her lover and co-conspirator exposed and gone … she was now a woman in despair and rather than accept her own culpability, so began her deep-set resentment toward the men who caused her the pain in her life.

At no time did Gillard ever take responsibility for her predicament – her choice in men, her choice to break the law on so many levels, her choice to leave Slater and Gordon rather than stand on her much stated principal – “I did nothing wrong”,  she herself elected to not let her innocence shield her from what followed.

If she truly believed she ‘did nothing wrong’ – why did she allow herself to be imprisoned by the fallout …

It is quite simple really – Gillard is devoid of morality when away from the pubic eye – she is not that clever as a lawyer, she was unable to cover her tracks and her involvement in the AWU fraud and ultimately incriminated herself in her Peter Gordon interview.

Was it a case of blind love and undying loyalty – was it her dream of a man, children and a life of shared bliss, was it a case of her being prepared to give it all up for someone who could take care of her?

All questions she alone might be able to answer – but the Julia we see today is in that same place she was 17 odd years ago.  Her fate to be decided by a predominantly male jury made up of her political peers and an electorate so wanting to see her fall from grace and pay for the shame she has bought to this Nation.

She presents a scenario not unlike Hitler’s last days, hold up in a bunker awaiting a fate she cannot believe she has found herself in yet again.

This is a far cry from the confident woman who walked into Kevin Rudd’s office and plunged the AWU sealed knife squarely in his back in front of the whole Nation.

Truth is Gillard has always been a flawed person – she has never shown honour, never shown humility, never embraced the responsibilities and standards the role of Prime Minister demands – she has no shame in demeaning the office she serves, and never shown any understanding of what a Prime Minister’s role as Leader of a Nation is all about.

If this is feminism on the move and the direction the gender equality debate is headed – women need to take heed.  You do yourselves a disservice if you support this woman … she is not representative of any moral standards women can bring to the equality debate.

Her time in the position has shown us everything that a PM should not be – and that fountain only has one flavour – hypocrisy.

She loves the attention of men and is a unstoppable flirt – one might say that as a modern woman she felt no shame in using her sex to procure everything she achieved in life … that might be a stretch – her Law degree was honest toil – her Socialistic Uni agenda was about finding who she was – her becoming ‘Partner’ at Slater and Gordon was about success – and that is where and when it all began to turn sour.

From 92-95 she was living the dream – an affair with a married man with  children, connections to Union power, involvement in financial transactions that afforded them to live high on the hog, Julia was on her way … she was a Partner at Slater and Gordon, one of the most powerful Union Lawyer firms in the Nation, her future was already mapped.

Her lover was a AWU Union delegate and he needed someone who could set up his corrupted AWU Association so he could funnel shake down funds from a number of contractors and turn the funds into legitimate assets.   This was a proven Union business model and Wilson with his promotion to Victoria from WA was now in a position to put his snout into the pig trough.

Who set up those accounts for him … step up Ms Gillard … a Union lawyer with an aspiring legal mind that believed she could fool all her fellow partners at Slater and Gordon.

Whether she be a fool, or a criminal mastermind – her involvement is now all being uncovered by Victorian and WA Police Investigations, with ample help from whistleblowers, and bloggers like Mike Smith who have had their own careers trampled on because they wanted to expose Gillard and her involvement as our Prime Minister.

This story is Australian history in the making – when done Australia’s shame in having allowed it to go on for as long as it has will make us the laughing-stock of the world … how could we elect a criminal to be our Prime Minister?

Yes this is our current Prime Minister – and to see the ALP caucus continue to allow her to serve as their leader, in the face of and despite this knowledge and information being revealed in an ongoing manner – the Government still sit on their thrones as if glued because they dare no move.

If they did take action so long after the event, it would expose their plausible deniability.

Gillard is in a self destruct mood – she sees the AWU scandal back in 1995 and how she was cast aside as the reason to let ‘Rome’ burn … she has no intention in trying to save Labor – she would rather see it burn than again be cast aside …

And in this scenario – Gillard is more dangerous now than she has ever been – she is our own homegrown political terrorist – she has her own bomb-vest set to detonate when it can do the most damage – Gillard no more cares for Australia’s future as aligned with her own views of her personal place in history.

In another context – she might be called a mental retard with a hate agenda against men … and I’m sure Tim can add so much to that debate.

**Note: This post is not targeting women in general – however,  the latest Gillard gutter swill confirms the depth of desperation she is prepared to embrace to hold on to power.   Her ‘abortion’ speech proves her complete and utter disrespect for all Australians … she has to be called for what she is and represents.

Ilistened and then I watched the PM deliver her abortion speech into the political campaign.

It was done in front of a 100 or so ‘female rent a crowd’ wearing Gillard supporter t-shirts and eager to smile and clap whenever the camera panned their way.

It was a private affair – no mainstream cameras or reporters allowed, the second such media banishment in two days.

Hear a part of the speech below and ask yourself whether the ALP caucus approved this speech.

The crime is not the ‘gutter swill’ politics Gillard is advocating.  Gillard can’t help herself – once a sow always a sow – the crime is in the ALP caucus allowing this brand of politics into the electoral campaign.   It is divisive and desperate, and will do Australia more harm then good.

How dare the ALP caucus support this brand of politics.

Gillard’s ‘handbag brigade’ – i.e. Roxon, Plibersek, Macklin, Ellis, Lundy, Collins, King, and perhaps Penny Wong, although I believe she struggles with the Gillard vision of Women in Politics, can all be expected to blindly support Gillard’s view on abortion and sexism in politics.

The Gillard Ministry – see Gillard’s Ministry link here – has only three women serving in 20 senior Ministerial portfolios [i.e. The Cabinet] … Gillard, Macklin and Plibersek.

This is no where near the 40% gender divide benchmark that is ALP policy.

Surely as a female PM, and if Gillard was serious about ‘women in politics’, her Cabinet would reflect ALP policy on the 40% gender rule, or at least have somewhere near the 8 required to fulfil the quota requirement.

The reason it does not is multi reasoned, but in Gillard’s case – it is a ‘Union Faction’ issue and who Gillard owes favours to.

In this context – this feminista speech to this group of 100 women is made to appear all the more ludicrous.

It can’t be called a publicity stunt because the media were not invited.  The McTurd troupe – [i.e. McTernian] – recorded the gathering and leaked it to the media after their own editing.

The ABC provided the above clip and usually they don’t do ‘YouTube’ … so it can be seen as nothing but a cheap and nasty campaign setup to introduce the ‘abortion’ message.  It was Gillard’s own brand of selling herself with the thought: ‘how do I make myself popular with women’.

There is a question for Gillard arising from this – for a long time rumours have circulated that Gillard was pregnant to Bruce Wilson, what happened to that child – was it aborted, miscarried, or put up for adoption?

Gillard has confessed she had no want to have a child – and the question about whether the rumours are true are now important given Gillard’s stance on ‘abortion’ and her painting Abbott as a potential baby killer if he defeats Gillard in the upcoming election.

Creditability Credibility is something Gillard wears upside down … her ankles are trapped in sewerage swill along with Craig Thompson, Peter Slipper, and her own anchor – the AWU scandal currently being investigated by the Victorian police and many other interested parties.

Gillard has managed to avoid her fate because ‘men’ have offered and given her protection ever since the AWU scandal first broke in 1995.

That protection first came from her Slater and Gordon boss Peter Gordon.  Gordon’s reason were self-preservation for his Law firm, then the AWU itself waived its right to sue Slater and Gordon for fear of the exposure of Wilson and Gillard’s scheme to defraud the AWU.   Since then the number of past and present ALP MP’s and Senators who have protected her is limitless.

All the ALP are aware of Gillard’s sordid past, all of Australia are aware – yet those in positions of power still chose to promote her to the PM role.

Bill Ludwig, the AWU stalwart for many decades has his own Gillard payback in his son serving as a Senator – remember his involvement in the live cattle export fiasco. He is only one of the Gillard Ministerial appointments she owed to the AWU faction i.e. Ludwig, Shorten, Howes for her becoming the PM when Rudd was assassinated.

Ministers like Plibersek, Macklin, Ellis, Wong [reluctantly], have limited ability – Plibersek married a felon, Macklin and Bronwyn Bishop have so much in common, the plump filling of a safe electoral seat because they fear what comes after politics, and Ellis former Sports Minister after Arbib went AWOL, and now struggling with choices she was never prepared for.

This Gillard ‘abortion’ rally has no place in politics – it demonstrates Gillard’s complete misread of the Australian people. Even her greatest supporters – the ‘ABC’, and the ‘Fairfax’ media are pulling away from her. Barry Cassidy from ABC’s ‘Insiders’ confirmed last Sunday his view that she will be gone before the election from comments made to him by people in the know.

All this ‘enlightenment’ begs further comment. Many of us have known of Gillard’s unworthiness to lead this Nation. Does that make all those now coming to the same opinion stupid, or just ALP loyalist not ready to face their own political conscience.

*** In a breaking story this morning about a Gillard Menu description at a Liberal fundraiser held in March earlier this year. The Menu’s authenticity has been confirmed by Mal Brough, Liberal candidate for the Peter Slipper held Federal seat of ‘Fisher’. The Gillard Menu choice is displayed below: [click image to enlarge in a new window.]

To view the full menu – click here

The story is building and is an obvious retaliation for the ‘abortion’ coverage damaging Gillard this morning.

March this year – why would the ‘menu’ emerge now … and to add to that, Mal Brough has had his own demons over the Peter Slipper/Ashby involvement why would he tempt fate with this type of nausea crap?

This is the level of our Politics and our Politicians – it would have been a staffer who adder the ‘political context’ wording to the menu to ignite the humour for the night.

This is the cross-roads readers … this is where this political campaign goes full-tilt negative.

I think Gillard’s ‘abortion’ speech has the greater damage.  This ‘menu’ story is a block stunt to give the media a sleazy choice to offset the abortion story.   It does no favours for Mal Brough and Abbott is due to front the media to speak about the ‘menu’.

The latest Bob Carr ‘joker in the box’ moment came via his interview on the new SBS program – ‘The Observer Effect‘ last night.

This was the 2nd episode for this new program – the IView replay is not yet available, however the transcript of the interview is and is pasted below.

It is a great interview by Fanning and I congratulate her for getting Bob Carr to share his views and opinions so frankly …

I have pasted the whole interview transcript below and it is quite long – but the section of the interview that this post finds most interesting can be accessed directly – using this link – there is a return link provided to take you to the beginning of the Interview …

‘The Australian’ reported on this interview as well – also pasted below – or linked here:

Firstly – The SBS Transcript:

| Program: The Observer Effect | Date: June 9th, 2013 | Link to On-Line Story. |

Transcript of interview between Ellen Fanning and Bob Carr for The Observer Effect, conducted 9 June 2013.

THE OBSERVER EFFECT EP-1 PART-1

ELLEN FANNING: Good evening, and welcome to the Observer Effect viewing the events of the week through the eyes of the people who shape Australia. Our Observer tonight, Australia’s Foreign Minister, Senator Bob Carr on why he’s looking to the Greek god of fortune to save Labor come election day. And smart, funny successful, find out what makes Wendy Harmer cry.

Bob Carr would have to be about the longest serving Labor political leader in Australia, Federal or State. He joined the ALP when he was just 15, that is over 50 years ago, back in the days of black and white TV when Australia had a population of 11 million people. Now, a senator for New South Wales, and Australia’s Foreign Minister, he is simultaneously an author, a student of great literature and an opera buff. Bob Carr, thanks for joining us.

BOB CARR: Pleased to be with you.

ELLEN FANNING: There’s been a lot of talk this week about scripted political lines. Now, you’re a man who loves words. What are the greatest words you’ve ever had to deliver?

BOB CARR: I think speaking at a commemoration for the Australian dead in Bali. I think that was ‑ that was a major challenge. It was in the Parliament, and on another occasion in a football field and in Coogee‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: I remember.

BOB CARR: ‑‑‑‑‑in Sydney.

ELLEN FANNING: What did you say?

BOB CARR: I ‑ I tried ‑ I need to revisit the speech, it was over 10 years ago, but I tried to capture their spirits hovering in the clean air, the spray of the surf around us, as we noted the fact that these were friends parted from us in tragic circumstances.

ELLEN FANNING: So lines, when they come out of your mouth, when they come from the heart like that, really resonate, don’t they?

BOB CARR: Yeah, they do. I think oratory is to a large extent a connection ‑ an emotional connection between the words and the audience, and you rarely get that. And, of course, as a political leader you’re forced to speak very often about the mundane, and if you sound flat and boring it’s very often because of the subject you deal with is flat and boring, but when you get invited to speak about a matter of life and death, then ‑ then you’re challenged.

ELLEN FANNING: You said one of your great indulgences as premier was your speech writer Bob Ellis. Now, I remember there was an occasion where you had to deliver ‑ and this is true ‑ a speech about the bravest dog in New South Wales that year.

BOB CARR: Yeah, and I ‑ I think like any assignment you should ‑ you should do your best‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: Of course.

BOB CARR: ‑‑‑‑‑with any assignment.

ELLEN FANNING: This wasn’t one of those mundane occasions.

BOB CARR: Well, Ellis gave me words that elevated it above that.

ELLEN FANNING: Right.

BOB CARR: And while I was praising this dog, and he was ‑ he was there breathing heavily‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: The dog?

BOB CARR: ‑‑‑‑‑at my knees ‑ yep. I said ‑ I outlined the virtues of dogs as a species, and Ellis gave me these words, he said, “Dogs are better people than we are. They’re better humans than we are”, and I‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: Straight faced?

BOB CARR: Yeah, and I told the story of how this dog had charged into a burning house to alert and guide his master and the dog seemed to follow every word and he panted even more heartily as I got to the point where I was going to present him with the medal.

ELLEN FANNING: Paul Keating said you have got a voice, you Bob Carr have a voice he’d die for. You know, we all watch the voice on television these days and we watch the development of a person’s voice. You have cultivated yours. Tell me how you did it and why.

BOB CARR: I remember I saw in a theatre program once acknowledgment for a voice teacher, so I tracked her down, I rang her up.

ELLEN FANNING: Really?

BOB CARR: Yeah, her name was Gina Pirro, and she’d trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She was living with polio, so she became a voice teacher rather than ‑ a voice coach rather than an actor, and when I went to her for the first time she said, “You have got a vigorous voice”, she said, “But it lacks vitality”. So she set about the challenge of giving me exercises, poetry and Shakespeare, to put vitality into it and I loved it and she was a very good coach.

ELLEN FANNING: As you know how best to communicate has been a big topic of discussion in Canberra this week. With yet another around for disastrous opinion poles for Labor, Kevin Rudd supported Joel Fitzgibbon didn’t even try to spin it. A couple of hours later, ALP senator Doug Cameron joined in the revolt against the spin doctors and throughout it all, the Coalition’s countdown clock for the election kept ticking down.

MAN: I brought the manual with me. I’ll see what it says. It says I should say, “Polls come and go, but the only poll that matters is on election day.”

WOMAN: And the only poll that counts is on election day.

MAN: Why should I just take a view that some kid in, you know, in the media department of some Minister or the PMO is telling me what I should say. I mean, this is nonsense.

ELLEN FANNING: Is it nonsense?

BOB CARR: Well, the best lines are those that come unforced and you have got to have some confidence in politics to get to that point. I remember Neville Wran was challenged once. There’d been an awful murder, a nurse murdered in Sydney after being tortured, after being raped, and there was a cry. This was the early 1980s, 1970s. There was a cry for the reinstatement of capital punishment and Neville had to meet that, I think 70 per cent of the people in the wake of Anita Cobby’s murder would have said capital punishment. And Neville Wran had to deal with that. No‑one would have scripted this line for him, but he said, “Capital punishment would be too good for them.”

ELLEN FANNING: Right.

BOB CARR: And that diffused it. “Capital punishment would be too good for them.” It sort of met the demands of those arguing for capital punishment by saying, “I agree with you, but let’s think about it.” That technique of agreeing but disagreeing at the same time was perfect. He was ‑ he was the master communicator that I recall that I worked with, and, of course, Keating who had the gift, even when he slightly misused a word, he sort of gave it accuracy. He sort of gave it extra force.

ELLEN FANNING: What are you thinking of?

BOB CARR: It’s hard to think of the best example, but sometimes you can get it wrong. When he described the Prime Minister of Malaysia as being recalcitrant, he was reaching for a different word.

ELLEN FANNING: Well, Banana Republic comes to mind.

BOB CARR: Yeah, that’s right, and it technically wasn’t right, and in the 24 hours after that, if he could have recast it, he would have used a milder word, but on the historical frame it was the shock the country needed.

ELLEN FANNING: At the same time you’re saying in the 24 hours afterwards he would have withdrawn it. I mean, is that part of the problem here, the fear of saying something wrong forces the modern political class to say, “Well, we best test this line, we best go and do a focus group and ask people what they think, so we can echo back to them what they’re thinking, so that they think we know how they think.”

BOB CARR: You can try too hard and everything you say is flat and dead and dull.

ELLEN FANNING: And is that part of what’s happening to the Gillard government at the moment?

BOB CARR: Oh, no, I mean, Tony Abbott ‑ Tony Abbott’s lines are “Send back the boats”, we know that doesn’t work, the public knows it’s not going to work, they know this is a more complex problem than is incorporated in that simple kindergarten incantation. No, you don’t get away with that.

ELLEN FANNING: But similarly, the only poll that counts is the poll on‑‑‑‑‑

BOB CARR: Of course, of course.

ELLEN FANNING: That’s another silly line, isn’t it?

BOB CARR: No, I learnt a lesson when I got hit with a big complex problem. I was doing something at Byron Bay as Premier in my first term, all of a sudden I got a phone call saying, cryptosporidium and giardia, terms I’d barely heard of, were found in Sydney’s water supply and we had to advise the people of Sydney they couldn’t drink the water coming out of their taps. Well, I was a man in shock. I did a media press conference at the lighthouse above Byron Bay, but it wasn’t ‑ it wasn’t adequate. I mean, I got messages from home that there was a demand for me to go back and take control of the crisis. I ended up later that day simply walking into a media conference and saying ‑ delivering the truth. “We don’t know what has caused this. We’re damn well going to find out. Yes, you have an absolute right to be able to trust the quality of the water coming out of your taps, but I have got this legal advice. At the present time it’s not safe to trust it. We’re going to get on top of this and find out.” And again when I justified a difficult bit of policy, a medically supervised injecting room‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: Yes.

BOB CARR: ‑‑‑‑‑still the only in Australia.

ELLEN FANNING: And this is for injecting heroin for heroin users to go to a safe place.

BOB CARR: Get them off the street. Get them off the street and not in a back alley where if there’s an overdose they’ll be gone in a few minutes. I just sat in TV studios like this one and said, “We think it might save lives.”

ELLEN FANNING: Bob, for all your love of words, you did have to engage in sport as the Premier. This week the State of Origin kicked off and punched on with New South Wales clenching the first game, and their captain Paul Gallen grabbing the headlines for hitting Queensland’s Nate Myles, great sporting moment or pure thuggery?

REPORTER: First blood to the Blues, but what about that punch.

REPORTER: In an instant a flurry of fists made him part of Origin folklore. His combination will be used to sell the games for years.

MAN: Now, you look at all the promotions promoting Origin. It sinks. I hope the NRL step in now and don’t allow that footage to be used to promote the game.

ELLEN FANNING: 80,000 people in that stadium. A lot of them cheering that punch, what does that say about Australian culture, do you think?

BOB CARR: I don’t ‑ I don’t know. I don’t know what to say about it.

ELLEN FANNING: Did you watch the State of Origin on Wednesday night?

BOB CARR: No, no, no. I was born without a sporting gene.

ELLEN FANNING: Right.

BOB CARR: It’s a bit of a disability in Australia. It’s got to be counted as such. I went to these things as a Premier. By the way, we always won the State of Origin when I was Premier.

ELLEN FANNING: I see.

BOB CARR: It was the inspirational quality of my leadership that found its way to the players.

ELLEN FANNING: At the same time we saw a young man hit on the streets of Sydney just recently, knocked down with a punch similar to the punch on the footy field, and he’s come around this week,, the Prime Minister’s tweeted her congratulations. An extraordinary story that he recovered from that with a giant scar on his head. Are there mixed messages in our society about how we deal with violence?

BOB CARR: I’m sure there are. Normally ‑ normally violence is alcohol fuelled, clearly not on the football field, and I don’t think you can talk about it without talking about the derangement that comes with binge drinking. If you want to put yourself in a risk category of being a victim from violence, go to a bar late at night or hang around a street when the pubs are spilling out.

ELLEN FANNING: And yet you describe Australians as funny, friendly, benign people. How does that reconcile with what we call entertainment?

BOB CARR: I think that description of Australians is right. I mean, I walk around the streets where I live in the eastern suburbs of Sydney or around the city itself. There’s good cheer. It’s a society where people can be darned determined to vote you out, but they’ll treat you with respect. I remember once in the lead‑up to the 1988 State Election, I was Minister for Environment, we were down for a big defeat, and I was walking up the hill in Maroubra Road near my electorate going home after working in the electoral office, and there was an old chap coming down with a walking stick and I thought, “I’ll give him a bit of charm on the way, that’s one more vote I’ve got in my pocket.” I said, “Good morning, sir. Good morning sir”, and as quick as a flash he said, “It will be good‑bye on Saturday.” I thought ‑ I’ve always valued that because that ‑ that’s the cheekiness of the electorate, and he knows in his bones that he, not I, is the master.

Comment: Tell me anyone who sees Bob Carr walking the streets near where he lives – does he have body-guards – or is this all just about humanising Bob Carr …

ELLEN FANNING: Yeah. And do they say that to you when you walk around Maroubra now today?

BOB CARR: No, they don’t.

ELLEN FANNING: They don’t.

BOB CARR: The people ‑ no, people‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: You don’t get the sense that they’re going to vote Labor out?

BOB CARR: Well, clearly we’re behind in the poll, I don’t need to be reminded of that, but what I think ‑ what I use that as an example of is the cheerful democratic character of Australia. The people are the masters, they put us in, and as Ben Chifley said, great Labor Prime Minister, “They don’t have to offer a reason for voting you out.”

ELLEN FANNING: What about the Sydney Olympics, is it true you told Andrew Denton that the 100‑metre sprint would be made more interesting with an addition of a leopard.

BOB CARR: I made that as a serious point.

ELLEN FANNING: A serious point.

BOB CARR: I said we have got to understand as we cheer our swimmers on that‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: Well, they’re running the 100 metres actually.

BOB CARR: Yeah, I understand that.

ELLEN FANNING: Yes.

BOB CARR: I’m just switching to another sport.

ELLEN FANNING: Just to be clear.

BOB CARR: That as we cheered our swimmers on, that a healthy dolphin unloosed into the pool would have done a whole lot better, and giraffes set loose rather in the manner of the Colosseum in Roman days, would have put our runners to shame. I was trying to be ‑ I’m glad Andrew Denton remembered that.

ELLEN FANNING: Also, you know, you write worse of yourself in your diary. “As the beach volleyball dragged on, I plugged in my walkman and heard a lecture on James Joyce.”

BOB CARR: Yeah. Well, I was going to be there for hours and I’m, like everyone, capable of enjoying the athleticism and watching the competition and learning something. I hate not to be learning anything. I think a day in which I haven’t memorised something or acquired some insight, devoured good words, is a day wasted.

ELLEN FANNING: At the same time, you are a fitness fantatic, you’re a very fit person, and in that way you sort of remind me of Tony Abbott. You’re both very determined in your ‑ that’s quite a serious point ‑ in your political life to bring a sense of your best physical self to your endeavours. Do you see that in Abbott, because Abbott of course was someone that you tried to recruit for the Labor party.

BOB CARR: Yes. Well, I think anyone who’s doing his cardio, I envy anyone who can do his cardio everyday, I think cycling would be a fantastic challenge. It beats the cross‑trainer or the stationary bike that I use, but I just think ‑ I just think that after a burst of cardio at the start of the day you feel better all day.

ELLEN FANNING: And what about Abbott, how close did you come to recruiting him?

BOB CARR: I think it was a time when he ‑ he thought some of the traditions of New South Wales Labor were good, but I don’t think it ran very deep. I think it was a momentary ‑ not even flirtation, but a momentary point of interest. And someone is entitled to do that, to pick up one political brand. I remember when I was very young, when I was 14 or 15 looking at political parties, I wrote to all political parties in Australia to get information on their policies, and they‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: How old were you when you did this?

BOB CARR: 13 or 14 actually.

ELLEN FANNING: Why?

BOB CARR: I joined the Labor party when I was 15. And all of them sent brochures but the Communist Party sent and organiser who came to the fibro cottage at Maroubra and knocked on the door, but my father gave me a big lecture, he said “Don’t come complaining to me when you can’t get a job.” He said, “Your name will now be on a record. Your name will now be in the files. You’ll be blocked for employment.” I thought, “What have I done?”

ELLEN FANNING: Do you think that Tony Abbott had a similar moment about Labor? Do you think he looks back and guess, “Oh, my gosh, that was too close.”

BOB CARR: Yes, yes, he didn’t get into it. He didn’t get into it, so he was drawn to the conservative side. As we all know, he went to the very conservative side, the very right wing side of liberal politics, which is the reservation that I think people have got about an Abbott government now.

ELLEN FANNING: Let’s turn to your portfolio now. The big international news this week was riots in Turkey where a youth protest over some trees in a park turned into a movement that challenged the authority of the Turkish government.

MAN: The people are forced into protests organised by extremists.

MAN: The display of excessive use of force against the first demonstrators who started this protest with the aim of protecting the environment was wrong. It was unfair and I apologise to my countrymen.

ELLEN FANNING: What are we seeing here? Is this a long slide into authoritarianism for a proud secular country?

BOB CARR: I think all friends of Turkey are concerned about what seems to be happening there, but I think the thing I can say is a Foreign Minister in respect of what’s come out of Turkey is that we trust the government will respect the right of people to demonstrate peacefully, will respect that right, because that is one of the norms of a democratic society. You respect the right of people to gather in protest, and to march in the streets against the policies of their own government. That is normal behaviour in a democracy. It’s what democrats can celebrate.

ELLEN FANNING: And that’s the test, isn’t it? That’s the test of the Prime Minister to see whether he continues in this vein or whether he does, as you say, respect that basic tenant.

BOB CARR: I think that’s a reasonable thing and it’s a reasonable thing for a Foreign Minister of a friendly country to say, respecting the right of your citizens and demonstrate peacefully against your policies is a democratic norm.

ELLEN FANNING: In October last year, there was a big of kerfuffle that you take your wife, Helena on overseas trips with you. This year is your 40th year of marriage. What does it mean to you to have your wife at your side?

BOB CARR: Well, she’s very useful, but the argument for taking her is that it is strictly within the guidelines, they’re the guidelines and I’d never depart from the inherited guidelines.

ELLEN FANNING: Now, just for clarity, when you say she’s very useful, you mean she’s very‑‑‑‑‑

BOB CARR: On the travel.

ELLEN FANNING: ‑‑‑‑‑useful on the ‑ yes.

BOB CARR: On the travel. On the travel she’s been enormously effective of being my eyes and ears in going out to the aid projects that I haven’t got time to see.

ELLEN FANNING: And what does it say when they see an Asian face in a confident western woman as the Foreign Minister’s wife in the world.

BOB CARR: I think it’s just a subtle reminder that Australia is a multicultural nation.

ELLEN FANNING: Now, Bob, you always have this tendency to make the ‑ to take it away from the personal and into the political, but I must pin you down. 40 years, Helena is watching tonight so be careful, she reminds me of Margaret Whitlam. She’s an accomplished woman. She’s happy to walk a few paces behind you, but I must say occasionally from behind there, there is a roll of the eyes, very affectionate, towards you standing out the front. What has been the secret of your great marriage.

BOB CARR: I think her happy disposition. I think that she’s someone’s who ‑ and I think this reflects the wonderful family she came from growing up in Malaysia. Indian father, Chinese mother, wonderful old Chinese grandmother who didn’t speak English, but ‑ and had bound feet out of the old China, the pre‑1911 China.

ELLEN FANNING: Really?

BOB CARR: And I think it was almost idyllic. Her mother was a nurse, her father worked in the local hospital, she went to the school run by Irish nums. It was a very ‑ it was a very ‑ I think a very nurturing way to grow up, and that just re‑enforced, I think, a genetic disposition of being happy.

ELLEN FANNING: So you have had the great fortune to live your life alongside someone who has brought you happiness everyday.

BOB CARR: Yeah, even when I have been staring at political defeat all those years in opposition, she’d say ‑ she said, “Forget it. It doesn’t matter.” In Shakespeare words, “There’s a world elsewhere.”

ELLEN FANNING: We’ll be back in a moment, but first given the week Labor has had, it’s obvious the party and its beleaguered MPs need some help. A miracle fixer who can somehow put the tattered party back together again. Well, pouring through the archives we found our man with a video prepared for the annual Walkley Awards for Australian journalism.

BOB CARR: Hi, I’m Bob Carr and I’m Australia’s Mr Fix‑it. You want a lawyer rescued from Libya, can I fix it? Yes, I can. You want a seat at the UN Security Counsel, can I fix it? Yes, I can. You want to stop global warming, can I fix it? Yes, I can. You want the Walkley for the most outstanding contribution to journalism, can I fix it? Yes ‑ what do you mean I can’t? I’m Bob Carr.

ELLEN FANNING: After the break we’ll look at some of the things that need fixing and get Bob’s observations on how to repair the damage. We’ll also be watching for our viewers’ observation on Twitter using #observersbs. You can follow us on Twitter @observersbs or catch up with us on Facebook and we’ll be right back after the break.

THE OBSERVER EFFECT EP-1 PART-2

ELLEN FANNING: Welcome back to the Observer Effect. Viewing the events of the week through the eyes of the people who shape Australia. And this week our Observer is Foreign Minister Senator Bob Carr. Critics of US president Barack Obama are saying he’s sounding more and more like George W Bush every day. Yesterday, the President defended a surveillance program which taps into the servers of nine of the world’s leading Internet companies, including Google, Facebook, Yahoo and Youtube to spy on foreigners. The data can reveal the user’s contacts as well as their location.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: This does not apply to US citizens and it does not apply to people living in the United States. You can’t have a hundred per cent security and also then have a hundred per cent privacy and zero inconvenience.

WOMAN: Secretly go to a secret Court that produces secret orders and then they collect information on secret and it turns out on millions of Americans on an on‑going daily basis.

ELLEN FANNING: Look, Bob, I know you’re the Foreign Minister and you’re not supposed to, you know ‑ you’re supposed to be careful in what you say about the Americans, but how ‑ Obama is standing there saying, “Well, don’t worry, it doesn’t affect Americans.” Hello, hello, over here, down here.

BOB CARR: I would like more information. This story is just breaking. I got a desire to know how it might impinge on the rights and responsibilities ‑ the rights and freedoms of Australians. Beyond that, I’m not going to venture into it because it is in the realm of security and intelligence and there’s a longstanding practice on both sides of politics not to comment on that for very obvious reasons.

ELLEN FANNING: Will you ask them about it?

BOB CARR: I’ll certainly get a report on what this means for Australia and for Australians.

ELLEN FANNING: I notice that Malcolm Turnbull came out and said that he was seeking clarification from the US. I would have thought that was your job.

BOB CARR: Well, I’m in the same position. I’m seeking clarification of this report and what it means for Australia.

ELLEN FANNING: I wonder how we ended up here, though. I mean, more Americans would die from criminal acts in America than from terrorists, not to underplay the terrorist threats, but that’s the reality.

BOB CARR: No, but the answer to that objection is simple.

ELLEN FANNING: Yes.

BOB CARR: The reason for the height of detention to security post September 11 is that some time in the future the attack could be a really substantial one, not just turning planes into bombs at ‑ with the destruction of those thousands of lives, but detonating a nuclear weapon in the heart of a popular city. That’s what this is all about after September 11.

ELLEN FANNING: And that’s why the Americans do things like this if in fact they do.

BOB CARR: Well, the challenge is nuclear terrorism.

ELLEN FANNING: And is that‑‑‑‑‑

BOB CARR: And the essence of September 11 is that it’s a harbinger of serious sustained attempts by terrorists to produce mass atrocity crimes. Mass atrocity crimes. The ultimate would be detonating a nuclear weapon in Time Square.

ELLEN FANNING: You say Time Square. What about Martin Place, what about Federation Square?

BOB CARR: We’re all very conscious of this in Australia. In Europe, the focus would be on terrorists with the capacity not just to detonate a bomb in a subway system, Madrid, London. Not just to attempt what we know terrorists have attempted in Australia is they’ve put the ingredients for a bomb together, but attempting to get fissile material in the form of a backpack or a suitcase nuclear weapon.

ELLEN FANNING: Has that ever happened? Has anyone ever tried to do that in Australia as far as you know.

BOB CARR: No.

ELLEN FANNING: Let’s stick with security matters. Green Senator Scott Ludlam asked you some difficult questions about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. One was whether Assange is entitled to protections under the First Amendment of the US Constitution. Now, that’s the part of the Bill of Rights that protect freedom of speech and freedom of the press. In other words, should you, Senator Carr impress on the Americans that Assange is really a journalist, a legitimate publisher and, therefore, should not be prosecuted.

BOB CARR: Not to my knowledge, no, wouldn’t be a matter of concern to Australia to make a case for him, no.

REPORTER: Okay.

BOB CARR: Why would we do that? There’s nothing more to say about it, and we’re not going to over-service these consular cases.

REPORTER: Is that grand jury investigation still on‑going or has‑‑‑‑‑

BOB CARR: I don’t know.

REPORTER: You don’t know.

BOB CARR: I can’t tell you. You need to address that to the American government.

REPORTER: We’re not interested to know whether it’s still on‑going?

BOB CARR: No.

REPORTER: Why is that.

BOB CARR: Well, it doesn’t affect Australian interests.

ELLEN FANNING: Since when was it not in Australia’s national interests to represent a citizen in strife aboard?

BOB CARR: Well, the assumption of the question is wrong, and that is we know there is a grand jury taking place in America. We don’t know that.

ELLEN FANNING: And a grand jury for clarity is a group of people who come together to decide whether criminal charges should be laid against someone.

BOB CARR: Yes. And this story has been going on for two years now. Wouldn’t the Americans have announced something if there were. They don’t tell ‑ if there’s a process going on in the US justice department, it’s not vouchsafed to their own government let alone to a foreign government. That’s the first thing to say. The second thing to say is that no Australian in trouble had received more consular support than Julian Assange. I don’t think it’s appropriate that we go on providing that in London. His difficulties in London have got nothing to do with the US government. Nothing. If America were seeking to extradite him, we would have heard about it in the last two years in which he’s been resident of the UK because the UK has got an extradition treaty with the US. It’s all about the Swedes seeking him on a criminal matter and winning in the British Courts. Therefore, it’s not a matter for Australia except into its consular aspects. Is he receiving due process? And will he receive due process in Sweden? And we’ve satisfied ourselves on both counts.

ELLEN FANNING: At the same time, we saw this week the trial of Bradley Manning. Now he’s the young American who leaked all these documents to WikiLeaks and the prosecutors in his trial have said really clearly, look, Julian Assange aided and encouraged Bradley Manning to do this. Julian Assange conspired with him. I mean, it seems there’s every indication from what they’re saying they’ve got their sights on Julian Assange. They’re saying he aided, abetted and helped him. They want him.

BOB CARR: That’s a big leap of logic. The Americans are trying to establish that there’s something maligned and not innocent in what Bradley Manning did. I can’t comment on that. That’s not a matter of Australian interest. It’s between America and Bradley Manning.

ELLEN FANNING: And Julian Assange is a very divisive figure, he’s running for political office come September. Does he annoy you? He’s called you all sorts of things ‑ arrogant and ignorant ‑ and says you’ve been briefing the Americans; does he irritate you?

BOB CARR: No, he’s fallen out with every everyone he’s ever dealt with. The people on the Guardian; the people who have raised money for him during his campaigning. He’s fallen out with all of them, and it’s not surprising the amount of campaign that somehow Australia should swoop in and collect him and liberate him, but we have got no legal standing in this. The Swedes have won in the British Courts.

ELLEN FANNING: Does it irritate you? Does he irritate you?

BOB CARR: No, not remotely.

ELLEN FANNING: And we’ll be back with more in just a moment.

THE OBSERVER EFFECT EP-1 PART-1

ELLEN FANNING: You’re back with the Observer Effect and our guest this week, Senator Bob Carr. There was a sense this week that the Labor party just gave up. Two Labor backbenchers got the cardboard boxes out to pack out their Canberra offices. Why wait for electoral defeat? Might as well pack up now, really. And Malcolm Turnbull looked quite moved on the telly when he started musing about the decline of Labor. Some, however, kept their sense of humour despite predictions by one Labor identity this week that the Gillard government is facing an electoral disaster.

TURNBULL: One Labor person said to me the other day, said that he’d in his earlier life he’d been a divorce lawyer. And he gave up being a divorce lawyer because he couldn’t handle just the bitterness and hatred that you see sadly all too often in divorce and he gave it up and he said to me, you know, the hatred in our party room makes the most unhappy, vicious, bitter divorce look like a picnic. And that’s Labor’s tragedy.

BOB CARR: If things get that bad, I’ve got a different career pattern. I’m going to have a placard around my neck offering to recite slabs of Shakespeare for five bucks a time.

ELLEN FANNING: Bob, if I give you five bucks, what would you recite for me?

BOB CARR: Probably Macbeth, the shortest tragedy. Its images of blood and darkness appeal greatly to Abraham Lincoln, one of my heroes. So they’ll be my specialties, I think, when I’m walking around Martin Place after politics.

ELLEN FANNING: Not the comedies? Not the comedies.

BOB CARR: No, I don’t like his comedies.

ELLEN FANNING: Really?

BOB CARR: No.

ELLEN FANNING: The divorce analogy‑‑‑‑‑

BOB CARR: And that’s savage age enough. I prefer Ben Johnson’s.

ELLEN FANNING: The divorce analogy seems apt. I mean, it does rather look like Kevin has had custody of the party this weekend.

BOB CARR: Okay. Well, you‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: Took them on an access visit to Geelong.

BOB CARR: Okay. Yeah, there are two games taking place here.

ELLEN FANNING: Yes.

BOB CARR: Let me explain to the audience.

ELLEN FANNING: Right.

BOB CARR: She’s getting me to say something about domestic politics because that will give ‑ generate a headline in tomorrow’s papers. My game is a different one. My game is not to say anything about domestic politics because I don’t want my name attached to any inflammatory comment. Now‑‑‑‑‑

ELLEN FANNING: Now, may I‑‑‑‑‑

BOB CARR: ‑‑‑‑‑I’m older, I’m more experienced. This is ‑ this is the key to who is going to win.

ELLEN FANNING: Well, can I pitch it to you another way: what I am trying to do is to get him to tell me what he really thinks about what’s going on inside the Labor party because I think there’s a public interest in hearing it said. What he is trying to do is get through this without telling me what he really thinks.

BOB CARR: There’s a US President Calvin Coolidge in the 1920s, and he’s famous for being taciturn, no‑one can get words out of him. At a White House banquet once, a woman sitting next to him said, “Well, Mr President, I’ve taken a bet that I can get you to say more than three words.” He paused, looked at her, and said, “You lose.”

Comment: the next passage is of great interest …

ELLEN FANNING: Well, I’ll admit defeat and I’ll ask you my last question. You took up the reigns of the Labor party in New South Wales after a terrible electoral defeat. You were one of the last people standing and you took on that role and had seven years of opposition that I think your speech writer Bob Ellis called “The sour but bracing years of opposition.” What did you learn about endurance, about persisting in political life?

BOB CARR: I think ‑ I think you have got to worship at the shrine of the Goddess Fortuna, I think. That’s everything is luck, everything is fortune. And I was very fortunate. We came close in 1991, and then got over the line by a very modest margin in 1995, and I suppose anything I contributed along the way kept the party alive, kept the party united, kept the party and me modestly interesting, but then luck took care of the rest of it. It was good fortune that got us there in the end and, I suppose, like Julius Caesar, I should be making a sacrifice at the shrine every now and again.

ELLEN FANNING: Has Julia Gillard and Labor run out of luck?

BOB CARR: Yeah, but luck can change. The Goddess Fortuna can come down and tilt things with a little touch of her forefinger, and ‑ but I have gone too far. I’ve gone too far. My resolve is not to say anything that can be translated or transmuted into a comment on domestic politics.

ELLEN FANNING: Well, nevertheless, it’s been tremendously poetic, and I thank you for it. It’s been great fun. Thank you for being my guest.

BOB CARR: Thanks, Ellen. My pleasure. Thank you.

ELLEN FANNING: And we have Wendy Harmer with us after this short break.

Comment: There is no shame for the Obeid and MacDonald travesty – Bob Carr does not wear responsibility well – the above levity at his time as Premier given the damage caused to the ALP brand in the immediate years after he was forced out by Obeid – gives a real insight to who Bob Carr really is – could this be Bob Carr’s interview that launches his own Prime Minister bid?

Secondly – ‘The Australian’ story …

We’re out of luck: Carr

| Author: Mitchell Nadin | Date: June 10th, 2013 | Link to On-Line Story. |

LABOR and Julia Gillard have simply run out of luck, according to Foreign Minister Bob Carr. But as someone who spent much of his career relying on the “goddess Fortuna”, Senator Carr said luck can change in an instant.

In a wide-ranging interview with SBS’s The Observer Effect program, Senator Carr said he should be making sacrifices to the goddess in an effort to bring fortune back to the Labor party.

“I think you have to worship at the shrine of the goddess Fortuna,” he said. “Luck can change. The goddess Fortuna can come down and tilt things with a little touch of her forefinger.”

Reflecting on his experiences Senator Carr said: “Everything is luck, everything is fortune. I was very fortunate, we came close (in NSW) in 1991 and then got over the line by a very modest margin in 1995 and I suppose anything I contributed along the way, kept the party alive, kept the party united, kept the party and me moderately interesting but then luck took care of the rest of it. It was good fortune that got us there and I suppose like Julius Caesar I should be making a sacrifice at the shrine every now and again.”

Return to the Top of the Bob Carr Transcript…

Bob Carr became NSW Premier the year before Paul Keating was defeated by John Howard. Bob Carr was Premier of NSW until 2005.

Queensland’s Peter Beattie became Premier in 1998 and stayed Premier until 2007.

Victoria’s Steve Bracks became Premier in 1999 and remained Premier until 2007.

These three Premiers presided over State ALP politics for a decade or more and in that time the festering corruption now emerging and being exposed in NSW, and in the other States can be directly aligned with the malignancy that destroyed the ALP in NSW and QLD at the last State elections.

The Federal toxicity stems from the Union aligned MP’s and the loyalty demanded – this ‘loyalty’ is what NSW MP’s were scared of – Obeid’s power was all conquering and the loyalty of the Federal MP’s to their Union factions is now coming apart at the seams.   A chop to the head of a few wantabe leaders could see the ALP finally dumped as a ‘major’ political party …

One cannot believe that this base corruption through a sense of entitlement is singular in its depth of penetration.  The talk of the Terrigal Club, the former Speaker Torbay, Federal Cabinet Ministers Combet, Conroy, and Bourk, all have ICAC established connections with Obeid.

And then Bob Ellis – mentioned above as a Carr’s speechwriter when Premier – and his personal blog comments about the ‘intelligent design Cabinet’ currently serving this Nation,  his delusions can only suggest the cocktail they’re all drinking is mixed with LSD and other hallucinate substitutes … loyalty demanded by drugged induce stupors …

Carr is dangerous and the way I read the above interview has him ready and waiting for the call to elevate him to the PM job.

When is it acceptable to support someone under a ‘Police Investigation’?

Is it when that person is a family member, a work colleague, a friend, someone that you think has been wrongly accused … how about when the Prime Minister is that person who is under police investigation?

Julia Eileen Gillard is the ‘person of interest’ in a police investigations as is Bruce Wilson, and Ralph Blewitt, and many others connected with the AWU fraud and its cover-up that happened during the early 1990’s.

Ralph Blewitt has confessed exposing Gillard and others, Wilson has also coughed up a statement to the media, but Gillard will not confess to the media or the Australian people that she is under a police investigation connected to the AWU fraud.

To further confound – the media have not asked Gillard the question(s) –

“Prime Minister – are you under a police investigation – have you been formally advised of the said investigation, and have you been approached to give an interview associated with the said investigation?

Why not is an obvious response?

Surely this is news – surely if all Australia became informed about the police investigation in a formal way they would be in a position to make a judgement call about all those in Parliament who continue to support Ms Gillard as the PM.

Independent Mr Windsor and Senator Barnaby Joyce made comments on the record yesterday as reported below:-

Nationals’ challenger for New England, Barnaby Joyce, is working on voters

| Author: Jamie Walker and Jared Owens | Date: June 8th, 2013 | Link to On-Line Story. |

BARNABY Joyce has ramped up the pressure on the man who stands in his way of switching to the lower house of parliament and politics’ main game.

Senator Joyce has warned voters in the seat of New England that they would be out in the cold if they stuck with veteran independent MP Tony Windsor.

He shrugged off Tony Abbott’s warnings about the dangers of overconfidence and referred to the “reality” of a Coalition victory in the September 14 federal election.

The Nationals’ Senate leader has moved his wife, Natalie, and their youngest daughter into a home in Tamworth as he gears up for the battle against Mr Windsor, who holds the northern NSW seat by a commanding margin of 21.5 per cent.

As The Weekend Australian took the pulse of the electorate this week, interviewing local voters about their views on Mr Windsor and his high-profile opponent, Senator Joyce was in overdrive.

He worked the crowd watching Wednesday’s State of Origin rugby league clash at Tamworth’s Court House Hotel while Mr Windsor was in Canberra for parliament.

Senator Joyce is counting on lingering anger in the conservative-leaning electorate over Mr Windsor’s decision to support Labor after the inconclusive 2010 election and fears that Mr Windsor would have no cachet with a Coalition government.

But Mr Windsor has the advantages of his big buffer, incumbency as a four-term federal MP and proven record of delivering projects and funding for New England.

Senator Joyce warned yesterday that staying with Mr Windsor would come “at a price” for the electorate, which rolls north from Tamworth to the NSW northern tablelands and the university town of Armidale.

“The reality is that the Coalition are going to win the election and then New England will be in opposition,” he told radio 2SM.

“We don’t want New England in opposition, we want New England in government, because Mr Windsor will not be seen as an independent. He’ll be seen as a member of the Green-Labor Party-independent alliance.”

Mr Windsor insisted yesterday he had no regrets about backing Julia Gillard along with other balance-of-power independents and the Greens’ Adam Bandt.

“I think the correct choice was made,” he told ABC radio. “It hasn’t been easy for the Prime Minister, obviously. It hasn’t been all that easy on us, either.”

Mr Windsor said Mr Abbott wouldn’t have handled the hung parliament if he had become prime minister after the last election, and the independents might have “done him a favour” by ensuring he stayed Opposition Leader.

Windsor once again has tied himself to Gillard with his above comments – that creates a question of why if he is aware of the ‘police investigation’.  Or – it could be that he sees no creditable case against Gillard and that would mean that his dismisses all the allegations made – but yet again nobody asks him the questions about his position on the AWU fraud scandal and the police investigation.

Windsor’s Parliamentary actions seem to be honourable and there has been only a blimp of exposure to his feelings towards Tony Abbott.  That was when he unleashed on him in the House over the undertaking Abbott gave if Windsor supported the Coalition to form Government in 2010 – that was during the ‘boat people’ Immigration debate late 2012.

That outburst exposed the hatred Windsor has for Abbott and it’s a hatred still evident if a police investigation is not enough to make Windsor reconsider his support for Gillard.   Windsor’s exposure on so many levels in his support for Gillard is what Joyce sees as the reasons he can unseat WIndsor …

Independents Windsor, Wilkie, Katter, and Oakeshott, along with The Greens Adam Brandt, and forced new Independents Peter Slipper, and Craig Thompson have held the balance of power in the House since the 2010 election.  Gillard survives on the support of at least four of these Independents in any ‘no-confidence’ or ‘supply’ motion.

The Greens Brandt has pledged support to Gillard on matters of ‘supply’ and ‘no confidence’ – Thompson and Slipper will support Gillard given Gillard’s support for both through their own criminal investigations.  So the balance comes down to Wilkie, Oakeshott, Katter, and Windsor.

Katter has supported the Coalition and Government on various Bills and is a ‘loose cannon’ in any debate on ‘no-confidence’.

The Coalition need all four of these Independent votes to roll Gillard, and that is the dilemma why the promised ‘no-confidence’ motion has not happened, and will not happen.

The election is three months away – less than 100 days – and Windsor is the Independent under most pressure. Yet he has the highest margin of any of the Independents. Joyce needs a swing greater that 21% to oust Windsor – that is a big ask but Joyce must have polling that suggests he can succeed.

Oakeshott’s intention about re-contesting his own seat is still unknown – he has delayed his decision twice already and that only diminishes his comments about good governance and how he thinks this Government has been a good Government.  He fears the voter backlash and embarrassment at the trouncing the polls are predicting … all his outspoken comments about Gillard’s achievements make him also guilty of supporting a PM under an on-going police investigation.

ALP have 71 seats with the ousting of Thompson, the Coalition 72 with the loss of Slipper, and an ‘absolute majority’ of 76 votes is needed to have a ‘no confidence’ motion passed.  Of course – if any of the marginalised and booted ALP ex Ministers had an inkling to do the right thing – the Independents would not be needed.   ‘Crossing the floor’ is the most powerful statement any MP can make –

The Police Investigation:

The ‘she’ says, ‘he’ says on whether a police investigation exists comes down to two sources –

  1. Mike Smith News – Mike has been pursuing this matter since it broke again over the Glen Milne story in late 2011.  He has a database of evidence that is exhaustive and utterly revealing in Gillard’s complicity.

There is no doubt that she and Wilson set about a course of action – all facilitated by Gillard and her work as a Slater and Gordon Partner.  Her on the record interview with Peter Gordon in 1995 when the fraud was uncovered by Slater and Gordon senior Partners is most incriminating – you must read this post from Mike Smith to get a grasp of the complexity of intent to cover up the crime. – post linked here

Smith’s research has implicated many individuals and to read all his research documents and comments will leave no doubt to Gillards guilt and those of Wilson and Slater and Gordon who did their best then, and continue to cover up the crime and fraud involved.Smith instigated the police investigation in November 2012 when he lodged a complaint – see his post here – this sets out the reasons and foundations in law as to why Gillard is under police investigation.

  2. 2GB’s Ben Fordham:  Fordham interview Gillard during her ‘Rooty Hill’ week earlier this year – that interview is available via YouTube replay below:

Subsequent to the above interview Fordham was approached by the Victorian Police to be interview over the Gillard statements in his ‘Rooty Hill’ interview – Fordham told his 2GB listeners about this police approach and how Gillard misled or lied to Fordham about her knowledge of an ongoing police investigation into her involvement in the AWU fraud investigation – that Fordham broadcast can be heard again below:  [EYE-BALL’s original post on this interview can be read here …]

Both these stories made National headlines yet the PM was never asked directly on the House, or buy the media in the countless new conferences she has given since about whether she is under Police Investigation – why is that?

Both these sources are impeccable – no writs have been issued by Gillard or any other party to have the allegations suppressed,  or withdrawn which can only lead to the assumption there is fact and truth in the allegations made.

How is this not news – that our Prime Minister is under a serious crime investigation and is one of the ‘prime suspects’ –

The Independents Windsor, Oakeshott and Wilkie stand behind a PM under police investigation – how would that trade in their electorates …

Abbott is also not blameless – why did he not ask during ‘Question Time’ in the past two weeks whether the PM could confirm she is under a police investigation?

Gillard’s answer under oath else she would be misleading the House, would have given the Independents no room to move in a ‘no confidence’ motion.

If it was on the public record it would have to be news and then all Australia would have undeniable proof that their PM is part way to being proved a criminal.

Why none of this happened is connected with protecting all the politicians involved – that means everybody – if it became confirmed that the ALP caucus, the Independents, the Greens, and the Coalition stopped short of ousting Gillard because of the harm that would cause to our parliamentary process – then they are all guilty of the cover-up.

Where is the strength of character, integrity, and moral sustenance to stand up and say – this is wrong and if by association I cannot bring this to an end – then my conscience cannot go forward knowing what I know to be true …

The Politicians think they play by a set of different rules – what other excuse can there be …

There is no more moral wrong then what is being delivered to Australians as the democracy they are ruled by.

How can this be democracy when lies and fraud are the foundation stones upon which it is built?

Please – consider all the above and make up your own mind – Gillard is a criminal – but she is only part of the problem as her caucus rallies behind her, as do the Independents and to some extent – the Opposition fail to ask the important questions that would sink Gillard and the ALP …

Perhaps a reason can be found in the duplicity of recent exposure of the Coalitions support to grab some $60 million of taxpayers funds to boost ‘electoral funding’ backdated to ensure war chest funds for he upcoming election.

Perhaps all political parties have some unwritten laws that they only can go so far in exposing MPs …  I can’t accept that but what can the alternative be in not exposing in the House that Gillard is under a police investigation?

Iheard Kevin Rudd say to the cameras yesterday that his ALP colleagues should shut-up and get behind the Leader so Tony Abbott does not get to be the next Prime Minister.

To tell you the truth I had to take a second to ponder and search on-line for the comment to in fact make sure it was Kevin Rudd who made the statement –

Sky News ran the story – see below:

Rudd tells Labor to pull their heads in

| Updated: 15:07, Wednesday June 5, 2013 | Link to On-Line Story. |

Kevin Rudd has told his Labor colleagues to focus on Tony Abbott rather than Julia Gillard, as they despair over the prospect of a massive election defeat.

‘I think it’s time everyone, and I mean everyone, just pulled their heads in,’ the former prime minister told reporters on his way into Parliament House on Wednesday.

Instead, they should get on with the business of making sure Mr Abbott did not become prime minister.

Mr Rudd’s advice was echoed by cabinet minister Stephen Conroy, one of Ms Gillard’s staunchest allies, who warned Labor would be ‘marked down hard’ if it continued to indulge in navel gazing.

Their comments came as outspoken Senator Doug Cameron became the latest government figure to offer advice to the prime minister, saying it was time to dump the spin merchants feeding her prepared lines.

‘She’s a talented, effective politician, she’s just got to be herself,’ Senator Cameron said.

Yet another bout of ill-discipline in Labor ranks was prompted on Tuesday by Rudd supporter and former cabinet minister Joel Fitzgibbon, who openly mocked ‘talking points’ government MPs received from Ms Gillard’s office.

Mr Fitzgibbon sought to clarify his comments in an interview with Fairfax Media on Wednesday, saying his comments were a critique of politics generally in a ‘new era of spin’.

‘I was making the point that for whatever reason, a very good government is not punching through on its message,’ he said.

Labor backbencher Richard Marles said the government had to keep its discipline and prosecute its message through to the September 14 election.

‘We have a great story to sell,’ he said, citing the government’s response to the global financial crisis, the national disability insurance scheme and health reforms.

Another backbencher, Rob Mitchell, quashed any talk of dumping Ms Gillard.

‘She’s been able to get us through two-and-a-half years of a minority government. No one else would be capable enough to do that,’ he said.

The latest polls indicate Labor faces the prospect of being reduced to fewer than 40 MPs in the 150-seat House of Representatives after the election.

This has led to a feeling of despondency inside the government, independent senator Nick Xenophon says.

He cited a conversation he had with a government senator, in which he asked him whether the ALP was going to change its name to the Australian Lemmings Party.

‘He just looked at me in the eye and said mate, we already have’,’ Senator Xenophon said.

The Press have had a field day in recent times over the hapless ALP and Member’s willingness to feed the insider story frenzy …

RUDD’s comments above strip him of any creditable given his disruptive efforts over the last three years …

RUDD was seen as the saviour by so many – and is now seen as just an egotistical power junkie whose spoiler tactics have flayed the ALP wide open for whatever is coming its way in September.

RUDD knows Gillard has a criminal past and whilst he continued to challenge,  faithful ALP supporters stuck by him. The fact that he ahs now presented himself rolled over and happy to play lap-dog – the question is why has he positioned himself to support this criminal as Leader into the next election.

Surely his love of the ALP has its limits … morally this comment puts him on the side of corrupt politicians …

In the three years Gillard has been the PM – there is nothing by example in her actions, policy, demeanour, or otherwise that represents leadership qualities expected of our highest office.   It is one of the reasons RUDD retained popularity with the electorate.

How does Gillard get the support of her caucus to maintain her position  in the face of the ongoing ‘police investigation’?

Gillard’s evidence of guilt is there for anyone who wants to read and follow the paper trail established by the likes of Mike Smith and others.

This internal support by caucus members for soon to be declared criminals in Thompson, Slipper, Obeid and the like are examples of how far the ALP have come in supporting and fostering criminal behaviour against the public purse.   Gillard is a part of that behaviour.

It was only this morning that the ALP cancelled Obeid and MacDonald’s Labor Party membership – yet the ICAC revelations happened in Jan/Feb earlier this year.   Why has it taken this long to cancel there party memberships?

Thompson also was afforded his ALP membership until it was known he would be arrested.

With RUDD”s comments yesterday – we can all now see what a dud he really is – no morality, no integrity – the want to win and spoil the other side regardless of the corruption within his own party.   If he had an ounce of integrity worthy of public office – he would cross the floor to get rid of Gillard.

Edited 31st May – sorry for the language … angst and all that …

Aday later, 24 hours to absorb the reality of what the ‘electoral funding’ deal was all about – the thoughts are of anger and ‘how dare’ they … of how did they think they were going to get away with it …

For Abbott to have written his letter – for Pyne to be in on it – for the ALP to propose the legislation – or did they – or was it the Libs who went to the ALP … what ever  – all involved are immoral – all have a flawed mindset to even think they have entitlement …

All fuckin’ day the roll out of spokespersons, Ministers, commentators, political analysts … noise fuckin’ … noise … noise … ambient, painful, piercing … anger invoking … these fuckin’ assholes tried to rip $60 million off taxpayers and were a conscious away from doing so …

You tell me if Abbott is fit to lead … he did not convince anyone with his confession and half-baked walk away … the media have it right to hunt Abbott, but they are all wrong thinking that the likes of Albanese, Dreyfus, and the like are cut from a different cloth …

The media have to hunt Gillard and whoever thought up this legislation and give them equal billing … this is HSU, Slipper copycat, Union heavies thinking they are entitled – and for the Libs to think they are on a higher moral ground – who are they kidding …

This thing – this infection, cancer, toxic bile … it’s a disease all politicians have in some way – Windsor, Brandt Oakeshott, Wilkie, they all think this legislation is immoral – but they were hands in up to their armpits looking for deals to make a choice for either the Coalition or the ALP  to form Government.

None have creditability – it was the people who sent the e-mails, who phoned, who faxed,  who vented and shamed their Members into a backdown vote.

Backbenchers claiming they had no knowledge, or had not seen the legislation is just like a kid caught smokin’ the pot saying it’s not my fault’ …

How about the morality of voting themselves a ‘base salary’ pay rise from $130k to $195K when the Nation is in trouble … where was the conscious about entitlement then – where was Wilkie saying he would not take the pay rise … Milne arguing against such an exorbitant hike  … a pay rise of some 50% … you tell me a business where the bottom rung of workers get a 50% pay rise …

Shareholders vote on executive remunerations and bonuses – Politicians vote themselves their own pay rises and all their other perks – this was just another one that was exposed before it was passed …

This system of Government smells and is rotten from the inside … then there is the superannuation perks … and that is another whole other stench of perks and entitlements beyond belief …

Gillard earns more than Obama, more than Cameron, more that the Leaders of Europe … she is in the Marcos league of frauds and wealth generation …

Someone has to burn this House down … both Houses and the Green House … none are worthy and if they tell you different – ask them if they love this Nation enough to work for free …

They did 100+ years ago … men who had made something of themselves and then chose to give back and serve in public office for free … they did what they wanted – lined their pockets with backhanders and sweetheart deals behind closed doors … the same as it happens today except they get paid out of the public purse for every little expense.

Abbott mumbled something about public funding of political parties instead of donations … what mediocrity … if a political party needs public money to survive and believe that is OK … they’re gone in the head … and unless they come up with a contrite way to acknowledge they were utterly wrong … Australian’s have the right to turn their backs on our Parliamentary system.

  1. Tony Abbott gets a Backbone:
  2. New AG Mark Dreyfus really is a “TOSSER”:

Abbott gets a Backbone:

Some things happen ever so rarely in life that when you see someone stand tall on a morality or integrity issue and do the right thing, you ponder how hard it must have been for them.

Tony Abbott grew or was injected with a morality backbone overnight.

He realised he was risking a lot when he backflipped after agreeing to support a morally bankrupt ‘cash-grab’ to fund political party’s ‘administration costs’.

His minders – i.e. his own ‘faceless men’ had done a deal with the ALP’s own ‘faceless-men’ to steal taxpayers money.  This negotiation had been going on for months and in hindsight – Abbott has revealed his persona is flawed and that as the Prime Minister in waiting – Australia needs him to step up and show us that he can lead.  This backflip is a start, but the questions remains about some of his poor choices.

The Legislation was conceived out of hubris and when revealed to the public, someone turned a light on alerting those who thought it was a good idea,  that the dark place they had hatched this scheme from was the ‘devil’s home’, and sitting opposite them with the candy bribe was the devil’s incarnated whore – Julia Gillard.

Abbott’s minders revolted with ample urging from the public – sanity prevailed with the announcement the Liberals were walking away from the deal hatched many months ago mid evening last night.

Earlier in the evening reports were that the Nationals were meeting to discuss pulling support – so perhaps that morality enema Tony received was not taken willingly …

Anyway the right result happened and a warm thankyou to those still in politics who showed they still have a morality conscience.

*** Just In: This morning Abbott appeared to explain the backflip – he was unconvincing and the morality backbone was definitely not of his own making.  He fumbled throughout the interview indicating ‘now was not the right time to bring this legislation forward’.

He did not clarify further not was asked to clarify – does that mean that in the future it will be a better time?

Abbott does not get it – he had the belief that there is a right to raid the public purse to fund political parties administration costs.   Abbott needs to rule this type of plunder of taxpayers money out for good … a never never promise …

The flip side is that the media were hostile toward Abbott and that is no newbie … why are the media not honed in on Gillard and Albanese and the ALP for proposing the Legislation in the first place …

Albanese fronted the media after Abbott and the tone of questioning was supportive – they allowed Albanese to point Abbott as black and never wore a question about the low morality of the proposed legislation.

I want to say – nobody can trust this Nation’s media to do right by the people … leftist journo’s have ruined objectivity and media reporting … journos no longer report news – they report their own agenda and slant their agenda’s to their own political beliefs … these are dangerous times to believe everything you read or hear coming from a news source.

Lenore Taylor was recognised as one of the journo’s asking questions at Abbott – she is well know for her love of all things ALP and having an underware fetish with all things red and sluttish – she is such a Gillard whore and nothing coming from her musings or print stories is balanced.

It is another example of the media acting as Gillards hound dogs … a stench upon all of you …

*** Just in:  Further news this morning is the release of a letter from Abbott to the AG confirming the Coalition’s agreement to the proposed Legislation … this proves Abbott’s complicity and the question is now whether this was a loaded issue from the outset to flush out Abbott?

Albanese was on the attack toward Abbott’s backroom revolt over his support for the legislation – the media let him rant on and not once asked Albanese whether he felt the legislation was morally challenged … scumbags the lot of them … and I piss on the media for being ‘crumb eaters’… ALP crumbs …

Gillard and her team know they have nothing to lose – so they try to tar and feather Abbott by association with an unpelletable piece of Legislation they know will spike electoral backwash … i.e. they baited Abbott and he took the hook and now is exposed as being the same money hungry Politician as the ALP are …

As said by a commentator – this election is for Abbott to lose …

Moving on: in political terms this matter could be used as the primer Abbott can use to bring on the ‘no-confidence motion’ he has been threatening.

Will he – that will be a defining moment in Leadership if he does – if he rolls over and skulks in the tall timbers ashamed at his initial involvement and scared that the Government will tag him for it – that will be the measure of the man’s ability to lead.

Todays Question Time offers much, but as so often happens … the Opposition always find a way to lose their way when they have the opportunity … do you think they can discipline themselves enough to not get thrown out if the ‘no-confidence’ motion is afoot?

We’ll have to wait and see …

New AG Mark Dreyfus really is a “TOSSER”:

On the ASIO Security Briefing to George Brandis:

The honeymoon period for new Attorney General Mark Dreyfus is over – and wow … has he proved himself to be an absolute knob when it comes to performing for Gillard in front on the Media … how many times has he had to front the cameras … and mind you he seems to want that spotlight … to cover Gillard’s ample arse …

On Lateline last night he proved that his QC background is absolutely worthless as an Attorney General –

Tony Jones walked him through his scenario on the ASIO breach by George Brandis and question Dreyfus every which-way a number of times about how what Brandis did was any different to what Gillard did in the House when she spoke about the security breach.

Jones could not get Dreyfus to see the double standards being applied –

Two things – either Dreyfus did understand but could not answer the question for fear of lighting his own career fuse, of he is that stupid that the stench around him from Gillard’s witchery has him happy to make a fool of himself to save Gillard.

Does he understand how foolish he looked giving the answers he did –  watch the interview here … the transcript link is not working yet.

Dreyfus is proving every day that he is out of his depth as was his predecessor Nicola Roxon.

A Bitch Session:

I receive RSS Feed updates from many Ministerial Media links – the two that register most on the ‘puke’ Richter scale emanate from Jason Clare’s office and the other comes from Mark Dreyfus’s office.

All other Ministerial media releases messages arrive with a short summary and a link to the Ministers media web release updates that appear under the traditional Governmental banners … very professional and creates no belly roll laughter problems.

The Jason Clare messages – and there are many with announcements coming 2-3 times a day with Boat Arrival intercept notifications – is truly an overkill in self-promotion …

Clare has by far the largest banner ‘Header’ identifier seen, and since he took the ‘Home Office’ portfolio, L swear he has increased the font size used two or three times to make his name and position more pronounced.

I digress a little – Mark Dreyfus comes in a close second for the same reasons  but for totally different reasons.

Clare’s header takes up the whole preview viewer and I have to chuckle to myself about how small his dick must be if he needs to portray his title and name as large as it appears on all his media releases.

On the other hand – Mark Dreyfus’s office provides announcements to all his appearances and press conferences  and followed up by the transcripts of these media interviews and speeches.

In the last few days, this has stopped … I wonder why …

Just when you thought the political landscape had settled – that the underhandedness was done – that the bar was already as low as it could go – something new comes forth and makes you realise why this Nation has gone to the dogs.

With scumbags and fraudsters to the left, top hats and elitists to the right, disendorsed charlatans and criminals floating in the abyss, and Independents basking in the ‘pork-barrelling’ – how can you call this a Government for the people, of the people, and by the people.

These are our worst days … and we have nothing to look forward to if the Coalition support this new ‘Political Party Administration Funding’ tax – not a formal tax, but a new and hubristic indirect tax none the less.

As reported in the ‘EYE-BALL “None of the Above” campaign post yesterday – and  linked here – this new boost to AEC electoral funding is a ‘tax’ imposed on all 14+ million voters regardless of whether they want to support any political party.

This new ‘tax’ was budgeted for in the 2012-13 Budget papers as a ‘contingency’, and as more information comes forward, now to be backdated to make sure the major parties get a big whack of new money to help with the Sept 2013 election campaign.

If you voted formally in the last election – you ‘gifted’ $2.31 as an AEC electoral refund to the Political Party or Independent you voted for if they polled 4% or better.

This year it will be in excess of $2.50 a vote.  And now the new legislation wants to increase this by another $1 per vote.

As pointed out yesterday – this is a 40% increase it may be a single $dollar – but no business in Australia can increases prices by 40% and stay in business.

The existing electoral payment is already inflation indexed every six months – why can’t these political Parties survive on their existing funding during these harsh times?  This is a pethetic message … and needs to be responded to in kind.

The Legislation is aimed at making this an annual payment paid quarterly – it seems they have though of everything as any business does to improve cash flow.

Where is the due diligence in how these new funds are to be disbursed?

Is there anyone prepared to trust political parties or politicians with ‘slush-fund’ type payments to be spend under a discretionary arrangement on a headline expenditure item called – ‘Administration Costs’.

The money involved is close to $60 million over three years – what business would not love to have that sort of cash injection?

Do Party employees geta pay rise, do they get a bonus, do they upgrade their travel class, motel accommodation, their expense account … as the rest of Australia is forced to tighten the political Party’s believe they have entitlement to cover their membership cancellations.

The existing $2.47 AEC payment is not subjected to any real scrutiny with 95% of payments made within 4 weeks of the election polling day.  You could spend a pittance to win your votes and get the refund if you poll 4% or more – Pauline Hanson runs every election because it gifts her $250k or so income for the next three years.

It’s a rort …. see full AEC Election Funding guide here.

The debate in the media is focused on the ‘donation thresholds’.

Who cares about who donates money – I know its important to know who is donating to who and the threshold is about disclosure – it does nothing to stop the money.  If it becomes an issue than the donations will be made via other undeclared means.

The real issue here is the new 40% ‘tap’ into the public purse.  Political Party’s chose to exist as do all business – it’s not a bad gig to get the taxpayers to fund your administration costs if you can get away with it.

Why do we take this crap … the simple answer is because we don’t give a toss … we bitch for a few days and the news moves on and in the wake they do what they want … our apathy contributes to the ease at which our leaders raid the treasury.

With Obeid and MacDonald still in the news the electorate have become immune to the shock and awe they felt in January/February when news first broke.  Is the crime any less shocking now?

Hardly – and as the names of the politicians implicate – do any of them seemed harmed … former NSW Speaker Richard Torbay is gone – yet still gets to keep his State funded life pension … well at this stage anyway because he is still due to face the ongoing ICAC inquiry.

The hubris to pull a ‘cash-grab’ like this astounds us all.  The ‘bubble’ they live in has never been more evident – nor more in need of a real shock to deflate their own sense of privilege and ego.

Of the 100 or so MP’s EYE-BALL e-mail yesterday on this matter – only 25 or so acknowledged receipt – not one MP office responded directly, and quite a number of those who did acknowledged receipt – deleted the message without reading it…

This is a new ‘fraud’ and cannot be allowed to pass.

If the Coalition support this Legislation in the House then any credibility or higher moral ground they may have had as the alternative Government is gone.

How dare the prposers of the Legislation claim that increased informal votes have weakened their electoral funding payments – give us better Government and win the votes with the excution of good governance.

Mediocrity does not demand rewarding …
