	Leadership is on the mind constantly – in recent times it is the lack of that prompts concern and angst. Who among our previous Leaders understood Australia – all of Australia, its People, its Industry, its desires, its resources, its indigenous occupiers, the island context, the convict heritage, the Head of State concept,  there is a need to embrace and understand it all before anyone can hope to satisfy the needs of the Nation. Walking backwards – Gillard – the worst experiment of a PM in the history of the Nation Rudd – ego driven with a vision that floated with no underbelly support Howard – a man trapped in his 70’s mandate to break the Unions and clean up the waterfront – Keating – a maverick with vision that had us on the right track until his contempt for anyone who disagreed with him caused a thud Hawke – a Unionist with vision but his need to be loved gave him weakness Fraser – a stuffshirt born of privilege who could never get the people to like him Whitlam – another maverick in a hurry with radicals all around him Gorton, McMahon, Holt – all bit part players who never attained any continuity nor gave us direction during those Vietnam years … None of the above Prime Ministers offered Australia anything other than party politics – some did tried to be different but were frustrated by factional structures and individual ambitions. An observation might be that none truly governed for Australian’s, and that is an extreme failing in the choices Australian’s had to choose from. The people have to have confidence in their Leader – confidence as different to party loyalty – a belief that they have some idea in how to run a Nation as opposed to beating the other side with opposing positions and pistols drawn … Bi-Partisan support is a must if Government is to get the respect of the people – without it the Nation is divided and that can never be a good thing.  When was the last time that Question Time showed genuine respect for the other side … both sides are guilty – all are guilty … Policy on Immigration, Indigenous affairs, Defence, National Security, Health, and Education – the policy for each of these areas should all be agreed to via  bi-partisan cooperation.   Australia’s interests are damaged if both sides fight and don’t agree in these areas, and the public brawling over one another’s deficiencies divide us further. Having two mainstream Political Party’s that form our choices for Government – one who supports the working class, the other the employers and Business sector create the divide. Neither will ever come together to unite the Nation.  Our convict heritage is entrenched in our belief in the ‘haves’, and ‘have nots’ – and that cultural handicap is with us forever … Politician’s created and foster the divide, and as each side gets a stint at the helm – the trenches on both sides become more engrained – it’s a WWI thinking and the Leaders and their party powerbrokers have the same General’s perspective as they did in WWI – sheer insanity in their belief that their way is the only way … The National Party have align with the Liberals to help out farmers and the like … but as Australian’s we need to know that who ever is in power will have all our backs and Govern for the whole of the Nation – and not for the secular groups that fund their election campaigns – i.e. Unions and Big Business … We are no closer than we were 100 years ago to evolving as a Global Democracy whilst our Leaders continue to have these selfish party instincts – to reject everything a Government proposes when in Opposition, and/or a Government who don’t give a shit about what the other side cares about – nothing will change. As an example – nobody can say that this current Government is not the worst in living memory – neither side would pour water on the other if they were on fire … in most cases they would both light the fires … Watching Senate Hearings, the HOR and the Upper House give us good reason to blame our Leaders for the divide created … and it will take a Leader with a vision 10 times what Gillard or Abbott offer to make this Nation come together. The re-emergence of the Republic debate in recent days showing Swan and Turnbull holding hands selling a joint message about becoming a Republic is a distraction and an example of selfish interests. Neither thinks the other worthy in any other forum and is an example of the gross hypocrisy on display in our so called Democracy every day of the week. The attacks in the House this week by the Government against State Governments who don’t support the Gillard Gonski plan is another example of how divided politics and policy has become. Gillard threatens to punish States who do not agree with her plan – as if her plan is the best and only plan … the hubris in that ultimatum is the example of how divided the Nation has become and no election result will meld it back together again. The Abbott Government are just as hellbent on their choices and it will be more of the same and that is the wrong. What Leader can get us past this party politics divide … what Leader will yield and extend an open hand to the other side for better Government? The minority Government of the last three years was an experiment in bi-partisan politics – the Greens, The Independents, all had their price to support the Party they supported to form Government.  It was not a willing agreement because both extracted financial and policy gains in trade for their coercion … bribes and payoffs by another name. Democracy is Government of the people – and putting the Greens with 11+% of the vote in a position to demand the ‘Carbon Tax’ to do a deal for Gillard to form Government – how is that Government of the people … Green voters got their want – but they represent 11+%  of the vote – the informal vote was higher in the 2010 election.   How does that serve the will of the people? Wilkie was offered a $billion hospital – Windsor and Oakeshott had their hands out as well … and all that has got us is three years of the worst Government outcome possible… As the Nation limps to a September election – people believe relief will embrace them … it will be more of the same and within six months it’ll be everybody complaining about Abbott’s choices … There is an option – make ‘None of the Above’ the most popular vote and have our political leaders forced to accept change – if enough people make the statement that they don’t support either side of the political equation – it will force change … that might take a decade to get right … but that beats $100’s billions of ALP debt and $100’s billions of Coalition cuts and the like as both sides square up against one another … Surely the divide is a place where all Leaders should meet and talk policy – not the powerbrokers and special interest groups wanting favours … policy should be about what is best for the majority, not the minority … Many will say this opinion is naive – and perhaps it is.  To think that Political Parties can be aligned on common interests – would that not be a great thing … please think a little deeper first before you throw out the messenger before you really understand the message …

To tell you the truth I had to take a second to ponder and search on-line for the comment to in fact make sure it was Kevin Rudd who made the statement – Sky News ran the story – see below: Rudd tells Labor to pull their heads in | Updated: 15:07, Wednesday June 5, 2013 | Link to On-Line Story. | Kevin Rudd has told his Labor colleagues to focus on Tony Abbott rather than Julia Gillard, as they despair over the prospect of a massive election defeat. ‘I think it’s time everyone, and I mean everyone, just pulled their heads in,’ the former prime minister told reporters on his way into Parliament House on Wednesday. Instead, they should get on with the business of making sure Mr Abbott did not become prime minister. Mr Rudd’s advice was echoed by cabinet minister Stephen Conroy, one of Ms Gillard’s staunchest allies, who warned Labor would be ‘marked down hard’ if it continued to indulge in navel gazing. Their comments came as outspoken Senator Doug Cameron became the latest government figure to offer advice to the prime minister, saying it was time to dump the spin merchants feeding her prepared lines. ‘She’s a talented, effective politician, she’s just got to be herself,’ Senator Cameron said. Yet another bout of ill-discipline in Labor ranks was prompted on Tuesday by Rudd supporter and former cabinet minister Joel Fitzgibbon, who openly mocked ‘talking points’ government MPs received from Ms Gillard’s office. Mr Fitzgibbon sought to clarify his comments in an interview with Fairfax Media on Wednesday, saying his comments were a critique of politics generally in a ‘new era of spin’. ‘I was making the point that for whatever reason, a very good government is not punching through on its message,’ he said. Labor backbencher Richard Marles said the government had to keep its discipline and prosecute its message through to the September 14 election. ‘We have a great story to sell,’ he said, citing the government’s response to the global financial crisis, the national disability insurance scheme and health reforms. Another backbencher, Rob Mitchell, quashed any talk of dumping Ms Gillard. ‘She’s been able to get us through two-and-a-half years of a minority government. No one else would be capable enough to do that,’ he said. The latest polls indicate Labor faces the prospect of being reduced to fewer than 40 MPs in the 150-seat House of Representatives after the election. This has led to a feeling of despondency inside the government, independent senator Nick Xenophon says. He cited a conversation he had with a government senator, in which he asked him whether the ALP was going to change its name to the Australian Lemmings Party. ‘He just looked at me in the eye and said mate, we already have’,’ Senator Xenophon said. The Press have had a field day in recent times over the hapless ALP and Member’s willingness to feed the insider story frenzy … RUDD’s comments above strip him of any creditable given his disruptive efforts over the last three years … RUDD was seen as the saviour by so many – and is now seen as just an egotistical power junkie whose spoiler tactics have flayed the ALP wide open for whatever is coming its way in September. RUDD knows Gillard has a criminal past and whilst he continued to challenge,  faithful ALP supporters stuck by him. The fact that he ahs now presented himself rolled over and happy to play lap-dog – the question is why has he positioned himself to support this criminal as Leader into the next election. Surely his love of the ALP has its limits … morally this comment puts him on the side of corrupt politicians … In the three years Gillard has been the PM – there is nothing by example in her actions, policy, demeanour, or otherwise that represents leadership qualities expected of our highest office.   It is one of the reasons RUDD retained popularity with the electorate. How does Gillard get the support of her caucus to maintain her position  in the face of the ongoing ‘police investigation’? Gillard’s evidence of guilt is there for anyone who wants to read and follow the paper trail established by the likes of Mike Smith and others. This internal support by caucus members for soon to be declared criminals in Thompson, Slipper, Obeid and the like are examples of how far the ALP have come in supporting and fostering criminal behaviour against the public purse.   Gillard is a part of that behaviour. It was only this morning that the ALP cancelled Obeid and MacDonald’s Labor Party membership – yet the ICAC revelations happened in Jan/Feb earlier this year.   Why has it taken this long to cancel there party memberships? Thompson also was afforded his ALP membership until it was known he would be arrested. With RUDD”s comments yesterday – we can all now see what a dud he really is – no morality, no integrity – the want to win and spoil the other side regardless of the corruption within his own party.   If he had an ounce of integrity worthy of public office – he would cross the floor to get rid of Gillard.

The 2013 State Of Origin Match-up’s Position Player Comments Ranking Fullback Slater Hardly made an impact behind a forward pack driven backwards – Crnk/Smith/Slater combo non-existent – both NSW tries were soft and Slater’s normally desperate defence was not there … 6 Hayne Came of age as SOO player – confidence high – never under pressure – performed well behind a dominate pack 7.5 Wing Boyd Did everything asked – no mistakes – 6 Morris B. Not a wingers game – solid in defence and not keen to take the ball up in the ruck … 5 Wing Tate Did everything asked – no mistakes – 6 Fergeson Early nerves gave way to solid debut … stick with him … 6.5 Center Inglis Never seen in first half … rusty in position and behind a forward pack doing it tough – opportunities were limited – came into his own last 20 mins … 7 Jennings The new zip-zip man – elusive and scored one of the softest SOO tries ever … beat at least 5 defenders from 15 out, standing start, looked dangerous every time he had the ball … 6 Center Hodges Played up to ranking and more – dummy half running set up QLD’s only try … defence was suspect missing Hayne in NSW first try … 7 Morris J Was not a game for centers – missed Inglis for QLD’s only try – 6 Five-Eight Thurston Said it before the game – halfback is his position – was smothered all night … defence was off – and looked like he was under Cronk’s playmaking … needs to go back to half-back and take charge of the ruck area … 6.5 Maloney Brilliant debut – finally NSW got themselves a half who can play – took charge of the plays and gave Pearce some relief … kicking game excellent – running game excellent … NSW’s most dangerous player outside forwards … 8 Half-Back Cronk Out of sorts – kicking game was poor – had no time with forwards going backwards – entitled to a poor performance but Meninga should think about moving him to five-eight and Thurston back to half-back … 5.5 Pearce Never been a fan at this level but has to be said – had one of his better games behind a dominate pack – 6 Lock Harrison It’s time Mal – playing injured at this level is always a risk … no impact in defence or attack – one of the players that needs to be looked at … 4 Bird Was rock of NSW pack – big hits when needed – played disiplined all night … 8 2nd Row Myles Best QLD fwd on field – good marks for no retaliation to Gallen’s cheap shots – watch out for square up in Game 2 … 7.5 Lewis Played good – most dangerous fwd on field … troubles all defenders with his footwork … 8 2nd Row Thiaday Not his best game – tried but not up to this standard – never has been in my book … defence is best part of his game and that was lacking last night – unable to ‘hit’ in defence – a Bronco’s trait … 5 Hoffman Bought options to NSW forward attack – attracted defence all night … 7 Hooker Smith Worst performance ever – opposite completely out played him … so many fay passes – forwards just could not contain NSW in first half – and that sucked energy … 2nd half was better but the forwards were spent … 6.5 Farrah Played best game ever – controlled the ruck – inciteful cross field running … set up the forwards well … ever present in defence … 7.5 Prop Scott Not the force of previous seasons – well contained – had better 2nd half but damage was done … seems to have plateued as a player … 5.5 Gallen Surprised us all and played – is just a winging wining grub – talked himself out of a send off – cheap shots in Myles first of all the stiff arm that went unnoticed right in front of Ref’s eyes – and then the cheap punches to a completely unsuspecting Myles … does his share of work and more but reminds me of a former drug cheat ‘Howes’ and is mixed up with the ‘Sharks’ drug problems … have to respect his work ethic – but is just a grub … 7 Prop Shilington Hardly noticed on field all night – one of the reasons QLD lost the forward battle – he had plenty of others who helped as well … 5 Tamou Quite game compared to last seasons debut – no offloads and did his share of hitiups … 7 Bench 1 Parker Good impact off bench – should make run on side on last nights performance … 7 Gidley – Reynolds Never went on the park … 5 Bench 2 Gillet No mistakes – did his job without making any impact … still learning at this level … 5 W’mough Made an impact when on field – 6.5 Bench 3 Teó Did good – should be in run on side in Game 2 – 6.5 Fifita Great debut and looks made for this level … 7 Bench 4 McQueen Limited opportunities in an already beaten forward pack … 5.5 Merrin Made an impact – perhaps the fact NSW were winning contributed to his efforts … 6.5 Coach Meninga Had his team flat from the outset – needs to rev them up for game 2 or the streak ends … 6 Daley Has to be given some credit – but NSW played well against an underperforming QLD … Game plan was to use forwards to force QLD to do the hard work in their 20 zone – it worked and QLD looked out of the game at half time … 6 QLD Team Score 107.5 NSW Team Score 118.5 Qld were never in the game – as if they left their ‘mongrel’ behind … NSW played all over them and proved that attitude counts for so much at this level … To the referees: Momentum was given to NSW from the outset – the ‘knock-on’ call when Tate went up for a high ball and replays show he never touched the ball set up the repeat set that NSW scored their first try from. Early penalty to NSW for ‘hand on the ball’ – only one given all night yet the NSW players were just as guilty – Gallen’s cheap ‘stiff arm’ in front of the referee went unnoticed and was put on report only after the ‘stink’ happened and replays showed the infringement and the referees view of the play.  Gallen’s pathetic plea to mitigate his ‘cheap shots’ has to be seen for what it was – and the referee’s inaction on the matter – i.e. keep that stuff out of the game  will see him booted for Game 2 … Qld won penalties 7-5 – but never a penalty in NSW half … Game quality: NSW ball security kept QLD in the game – and QLD replied in kind – their normal clinical finishing was all over the place. NSW put in a slick performance from the kick off and deserved their half-time score – QLD won the second half and at no time did they ever look like they were ever likely to reign in NSW lead. NSW will have some belief and deserved their win … the final scoreline flattered QLD’s efforts … Not sure what QLD’s problem was – but their forward pack was outplayed across the park starting with Cameron Smith’s efforts.  He missed Jennings when he scored his try, as did Cronk and three others.  Farrar was given too much room from dummy half and that should have been Smith’s task … Inglis was AWOL until the last 20 minutes … him coming back to center after his stellar fullback performances for Souths is an issue.  QLD have three fullback’s in their backline … that has to be a problem when players have to remember as opposed to natural instincts honed in their normal positions. Slater has to stay at fullback – Cronk and Thurston don’t work as half and five-eight, reverse them and allow Thurston to get closed to the ruck – he has a better kicking game given what Cronk served up last night … and Cronk’s defence was suspect around the ruck in a weak forward pack. The game never reached any highs – NSW fans will take the win and head to Suncorp with a spring in their step – they’ve been there before and if they don’t win in Brisbane – the chances of them winning again in Sydney in the decider will be far different to last nights odds … Then again – this QLD side might be complacent enough that a series loss is on the cards … Meninga has some work to get his forwards up to scratch – and instill some fire in the belly … but right now if you can get 7/4 – 2/1 about a QLD series win – you’ll be able to lay that off in Game 3 if QLD win Game 2. Congratulations NSW – you deserved the win … EYE-BALL’s Snoop-Poop …
