The gutless ALP senior MP’s have decided to sit high in the trees – just like monkey’s hiding from the big-bad lion.    Today was moving day – or should have been – all the ducks were lined up in a row and the wankers ducked the question, nobody wanted to upset poor Julia … or was it something else?

What hope has Gillard got – with multiple open wounds leaking blood, stumbling like a punch drunk having gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, mouth agape and shell-shocked because nobody likes her anymore, dishevelled like a street-walker having to accept that she can’t sell herself anymore, and still she wants to lead the Government like a good socialist true to the cause.

There is no chivalry in this Labour Party – all those so-called would be leaders don’t want the poisoned chalice – they’re happy to troll behind Gillard until after the election and them make their move.

They have not thought it through have they – how many will remain if 20-30 lose their seats – the game they’re playing is akin to russian roulette – empty chamber stuff – roll the dice and dare the voters to dump all the likely candidates.

Gutless wonder Shorten is hoping the electorate will take out his major opposition, the others   are equally hoping for the same result … truly … can you believe this crap from a Federal Government – the eagerness to get rid of Rudd is hardly matched in the hesitation on display.

There are no words … to describe Federal Ministers perched high in the trees and behaving like monkeys to avoid having to lead a Political Party to oblivion.   There is just no other way to describe what is happening and the electorate deserves better.

MPs back Gillard ahead of tricky week

| Author: | Date: Mar 11th 2013 | Link to On-Line Story. |

Federal Labor could face a difficult week internally, after its Western Australian branch was routed in a state poll that’s set the scene for further examination of the prime minister’s leadership.

Four senior ministers — Penny Wong, Peter Garrett, Chris Bowen and Gary Gray — today backed Julia Gillard to take the party to the September election.

But one of only three WA Labor MPs to see a swing toward them in Saturday’s state election has warned the party it needs to get back to basics.

Albany MP Peter Watson has told ABC radio federally Labor is a disaster.

But Finance Minister Wong says the government must heed the result of the WA election, which is likely to deliver re-elected Liberal premier Colin Barnett a 19-seat majority.

She says the message from WA is voters want Labor to do better.

Federal Labor MPs are on their way to Canberra today, ahead of the start the final two sitting weeks before parliament rises until the budget is handed down on May 14.

Penny Wong, Peter Garrett, Chris Bowen and Gary Gray are minnows in the Leadership stakes. Wong because Australian voters won’t accept another female PM after the Gillard disaster – Bowen owns the Immigration disaster surrounding boat people, Garrett is as toxic as any MP over his ‘pink-bats’fiasco, and Gary Gray plays both sides against the middle all the time.

One would think that if someone picked up the ball and decided to play the game – they would earn the respect of the electorate if it was done in the mould of Keneally and NSW Labor.

Meanwhile who will feed the monkey’s too scared to come down form the trees … these guys put The Gallagher’s” from the US version of the TV show ”Shameless’ to shame …

Larry Pickering’s Political Take:

To bring some much-needed levity – there is always the Larry Pickering Cartoons … below is a sample of his summer offerings – his images page can be access here[click on image below to enlarge] … enjoy and don’t hurt yourself with the belly laughs …

Larry Pickering also writes some very intelligent blogs including many on the AWU scandal.  Whilst not as regarded as Hedley Thomas in journalistic circles – his penmanship and his heady wit give him a take on things not easily publishable in mainstream media.  None the less … his take on events cuts to the chase and he does not mince words … his Facebook page can be accessed here

You hit the nail on the head when you say drink from the poisoned chalice.

There will be maybe 30 ALP members in the House of Reps, with roughly the same number in the senate. A caucus of about 60. Half the front bench will go. There will be more sycophancy in the leadership group. The spots on the senate ticket will matter more than ever, and they are naturally controlled by the unseen forces.

In NSW state, ALP was reduced to about a dozen, and in QLD is it 6 or 7.

I will not be surprised if Krudd is the only QLD based member in the lower house.

In the aftermath of 1975 and 1977, all 5 Tasmanian MHR seats went Liberal.

In NSW, Kingsford Smith is a changing demographic. Once Labor heartland of Randwick, Kensington and Mascot now Wentworth creeps into Coogee and Clovelly (north Randwick) and forces Kingsford Smith down into Barton. The seat of Sydney creeps into Balmain, Erskineville, Newtown and Redfern. Coogee, South Coogee and Maroubra will poll strongly to the coalition, maybe even Pagewood and Chifley.

Albanese in Grayndler, will be fighting a 3 way tug of war with the greens to retain possibly the safest ALP seat in NSW.

    Oh Absalom!

Taking the poisoned chalice now, would regain a modicum of respect.

Tomorrow will be 6 months to nominated election date. If the electoral writs were issued tomorrow, we could go to the polls on April 22nd, which is right in the middle/at the end of school holidays. May the 4th would suit me!
