Title:
– Open Letter to “The Independents” Re: –
– Julia Gillard, Peter Slipper, and Craig Thompson, three MP’s who bring continued shame to our Parliament  –
| Author: EYE-BALL Opinion | 9th Nov 2012 |
Today I sent an e-mail message to all the Independents Members of our Federal Government, also to the Government’s Cabinet Ministers, and selected Opposition MP’s.  This letter was written after I listened to the Alan Jones interview with Mike Smith on the 2GB  broadcast this morning – [9th Nov 2012].   That letter in full is pasted below:

Julia Gillard, Peter Slipper, and Craig Thompson, three MP’s who bring continued shame to the Australian Parliament.

| Author: The EYE-BALL Opinion | Date: Nov 9th 2012 |

Dear Honourable Members,

[An Open Letter – and without prejudice.]

For many months many of my friends and readers of my website, and I have waited for the Parliament to take positive action as relates to three very seriously matters that are continually questioning the integrity of the Parliament. These matters are –

  1. Craig Thompson and the HSU scandal/fraud …
  2. The Peter Slipper allegations and his conduct as a MP in that he is alleged to have abused his position toward a staff member for sexual favours, and to which a judge has reserved his decision, and to his conduct over many years with concerns to defrauding/over billing his parliamentary expense refund allowance, and
  3. The most serious of matters – the ongoing expose concerning Julia Gillard’s involvement with the AWU scandal between 1992-95 when she was a Partner and Lawyer with Slater and Gordon, and to which there now appears to be clear evidence that she has misled the House when she responded to a Question without notice put by Julie Bishop on the Wednesday during the last sitting week of the House just passed.

In addition to the many months of media coverage of these events and my own research reading, today I listened to a replay of an interview between Alan Jones and Mike Smith broadcast on his 2GB show this morning – [9th Nov 2012] – an audio copy of the file is linked below –

The content and breadth of the evidence laid out in this interview allows the public to draw their own conclusions – that evidence trail and conclusion leaves no doubt as to Ms Gillard’s complicitness in an event that will hold this Government to ransom for many months to come.

In declaring my concerns I want to advise I have never voted for any other party than the ALP in my life – there is no alternative agenda here – I have lost faith in the Federal Government and its capacity to lead the Australian people. These three listed issues above call the integrity of all Caucus Members and the Independent MP’s into question in that that are content to let the status quo prevail.

The Independents handed power to this Government, and they have the ability to reverse that decision.

My question is to the Independent Members … Messes, The Hon Tony Windsor, The Hon Robert Oakeshott, The Hon Andrew Wilkie, The Hon Bob Katter, the Greens The Hon Adam Brandt, and the disgraced Peter Slipper, and Craig Thompson, what will it take for you to make a decision to uphold the integrity of the Parliament and call on Ms Gillard to give a full and frank statement to the House about her involvement in the AWU fraud she is implicated in. If she fails to respond to that request – you must act to hold faith with the electorate.

Journalist Hedley Thomas has been trying to obtain an interview with Ms Gillard to answer questions he has raised about the AWU scandal – he has not been successful.

Nobody in the electorate who saw the interview Ms Gillard gave on the 23rd Aug, and who knew the facts of the AWU scandal beforehand will agree that Ms Gillard answered all relevant questions. The journalist’s who had been investigating the story were not invited to the interview.

The electorate is not stupid … it is obvious to all what is going on and the longer it is allowed to continue, then the integrity of the Parliament will continue to fail the Australian people.

In the interest’s of the electorate at large you must act … I implore you to act – you are duty bound to uphold the integrity of the Parliament, and with the evidence available in the public domain, there is no case to pause any longer.

The EYE-BALL Opinion.

Please take the time to listen to the 2GB Alan Jones/Mike Smith interview – linked to 2GB interview here.

Message sent to the Independents:

… the e-mail address’ are not linked but are valid.

  • Hon Adam Paul Bandt Mr (Adam.Bandt.MP@aph.gov.au);
  • Hon Andrew Wilkie (Andrew.Wilkie.MP@aph.gov.au);
  • Hon Antony Windsor (Tony.Windsor.MP@aph.gov.au);
  • Hon Robert Oakeshott Mr (Robert.Oakeshott.MP@aph.gov.au);
  • Mr Craig Thompson (Craig.Thomson.MP@aph.gov.au);
  • Mr Peter Slipper Mr (Peter.Slipper.MP@aph.gov.au);
  • Hon Robert Katter (Bob.Katter.MP@aph.gov.au)

… also sent to the ALP Cabinet Ministry, and selected Opposition e-mail address’.

… again I say – Mediocrity in Leadership breeds apathy – and unless the people show the courage to stand against that mediocrity then we fail ourselves and all who follow … ‘Courage is an Angle’

I received a host of automated responses – a selection of which I have included below:

Mr Oakeshott’s automated response … in part …

… If you have a constituent matter but are from outside the Lyne electorate, I encourage you to contact your Federal Member of Parliament for assistance. You can find your Federal MP by visiting apps.aec.gov.au/esearch/

If you are contacting me as part of a community campaign, please feel free to visit my website www.roboakeshott.com where you will find my speeches and media releases on a range of important matters…

Mr Brandt’s automated response … in part …

… My team or I endeavour to respond to all correspondence from constituents and stakeholders in the electorate of Melbourne* as quickly as we can. …

… If you haven’t received something from me or my staff within four weeks then please re-send or contact my office. As you can imagine I receive a high volume of email and would appreciate your understanding in this regard…

Mr Katter’s automated response … in part …

… If your matter is urgent and you are in the Kennedy electorate please phone our Innisfail Office on 1300 301 942…

… If you are outside Kennedy electorate and your matter is a constituent issue please contact your Federal Member or a Senator in your State…

These were the only Independent and Green responses received at the time of publishing this post.

As for the Government Minister’s responses …

Mr Rudd’s automated response … in part …

… If you reside within the Griffith Electorate, or if your email pertains to a diary matter, your correspondence will be referred to the relevant staff member or Mr Rudd for a timely response.

Unfortunately, Mr Rudd is unable to intervene in constituent matters that fall outside of his Electorate.

If you reside outside of the Griffith Electorate, you should contact your local Federal Member of Parliament for immediate assistance. You can find your Federal Member of Parliament by visiting – http://apps.aec.gov.au/esearch

Ms Wong’s automated response … in full …

This is an automatically generated response. Thank-you for your email to Senator Penny Wong, Labor Senator for South Australia. We appreciate you taking the time to contact the Senator, however due to a large volume of emails that are received, we are unable to acknowledge each email personally. Thank you.

There were several Ministeral office responses all with similar commentary to the above … it would seem that local constituents are the priority as should be so … but how can one get to MP’s if they are only going to respond to local enquiries.

Do they not have a greater calling to the whole of the Australian electorate as the Government?

It would seem that individual issues are to be handled by the local member – and that Member then forwards it on to the Minister concerned.  I have written to Minister’s, Opposition spokesperson, and their staffers many times in the past and the paper shuffle to get a response can take many phone calls and perhaps six months or longer before a response is forthcoming.

There is a great reluctance to issue a read receipt, and when I have phone dto ensure the message was received, reception staff all teh way up to Chief of Staff refuse to send an acknowledgelment through … Malcolm Turnbull’s office always adopts this policy and we have had frequent run in’s with his staff.

I know of many others who also contact their local member and they get an automated response and that is the last they hear of it.

Perhaps e-mail messages receive a lower priority, and the ‘snail-mail’ is still the best way to ensure a response – that is just too easy an excuse if in fact it is so.

Please all readers – if you feel the want to express your view and you agree with the content contained herein – you are welcome to copy and paste the letter in your own message to your Local member.  You can find an address or e-mail address for your Member using the HOR and Senator links provided below.

    Yesterday I received the following;

    Thank you for contacting me. This is an automated response to acknowledge receipt of your email. I often receive more than a thousand emails each day and it is not possible to respond individually to each one. I do endeavour to respond to as many as possible.

    If you are contacting me as part of a campaign on a particular issue, you might care to visit my website (www.anthonyalbanese.com.au) where you will find many statements I have made on a range of matters.

    If you are a local resident of Grayndler, please make sure you have included your name and address in your email.

    Thanks again for taking the time to write to me.

    Yours sincerely,

    Anthony Albanese MP
    Member for Grayndler
    Minister for Infrastructure & Transport
    Leader of the House

    There is a pattern in all of the above responses. The one that is most candid is from Rudd the Dud. “Unfortunately, Mr Rudd is unable to intervene in constituent matters that fall outside of his Electorate.”

    As Foreign Minister he can have opinions on other democracies or their shortcomings. As Prime Minister he went to Copenhagen as a messiah, and came back a goose. But if you are Australian, then “go away”. None are better or worse but the constant concept, I am too busy I only respond to selected issues…..

    I few years ago I sent an e-mail to Lee Rhiannon about poker machines. Her reply was “I have my own causes, But I had added you to my daily e mail distribution list on my causes If you choose to unsubscribe then hit unsubscribe button.

    I received this a few moments ago –

    Your message was deleted without being read on Friday, November 09, 2012 9:57:36 PM (GMT+10:00) Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney.

    The message came from – Bramley Karina [Karina.Bramley@regional.gov.au]

    I never sent any messages to an address ending @regional.gov.au – indication that the original message was forwarded on to whoever it was that responded – without reading I might add.

    I believed the message was respectful and fully outlined my agrument … but to delete a message without reading suggests ‘head in the sand’ stuff … more Mediocrity I’m affraid …

    I have no idea on who’s behalf this message was sent …

    Karina Bramley is Office Manager for Simon Crean. How utterly disgusting

  4. November 10, 2012 at 10:37 am

    Thanks Gerry – was not overly concerned but now that just goes to show – a senior Minister’s Chief of Staff does not bother to read the content … probably read the headline and just said – ‘not important’ …

    Thank you for doing your best to help, Eyeball. I have voted both ways in my long voting life, depending on which party at the time I think will do best for my State or Australia. Sometimes that has meant Labor State and Liberal Federal or vice versa in the same year.
    The current situation is above politics. It’s about the kind of Australia we want future generations to have and enjoy. The endemic, entrenched and continuing corruption in Union, legal, judicial, political , journalism and many other fields must be halted and reversed.
    It’s not about long-gone so-called gender or class wars, it’s about a return to honesty, integrity, real freedom and fairness that has suffered so much under Gillard’s flawed lack of real leadership of a cobbled together soul-less government..
    For those who haven’t visited http://www.michaelsmithnews.com, please do so and read the heartfelt comments of real Aussies crying out for a return to decency. Compare them to the hatred, bile and vitriol expressed on The Drum and other like blogs . Check on the vast documented evidence available and make up your own minds, Marvel at how the ABC and MSM could totally ignore what’s going on in the real world outside their own self-imposed ideological blinkered group-think plastic bubble in their parallel universe!
    Spread the message at every website you visit around the world. This story MUST come out and the truth be told.

    Great comment Hillbilly – hung on every word … the Mike Smith effort has been relentless and at some point exhaustion will get the better of him. To have been so utterly wronged over something that he was so utterly right can rip you apart from the inside.

    Rudd could have crossed the floor during the asylum debate if not to give the Government warning that the he is an independent thinker – every vote on the floor of the House should be a conscious vote and this is where the two party stsyem fails democracy. Ameracis are at their abyss because of the two party system and unless someone yields then iy wil be mor eof the same … man’s ego can no longer afford to write the cheques these Legislators keep spending …

    The Gillard horse whip has her caucus all tucked up and unless the Independents do what the ALP caucus should do – it will be more of the same … Abbott has to show the electorate he has something to offer … Gillard gets the better of him on so many issues and in the House … I cringe for the man and it does take so sort of man to get up and give Gillard what Gillard so freely dishes out to anybody who tries to dump on her …

    Alan Jones had his wings clipped a few weeks ago and then came back with the Mike Smith interview … that showed some balls … now we need to see it from the Opposition ..Great comment Hillbilly – hung on every word … the Mike Smith effort has been relentless and at some point exhaustion will get the better of him. To have been so utterly wronged over something that he was so utterly right about can rip you apart from the inside.

    Rudd could have crossed the floor during the asylum debate if not to give the Government warning that the he is an independent thinker – it would have bought on a spill and Gillard would have lost the momentum when others followed … it would have bought the House down and he would have become a hero in the eyes of the electorate … whether a policy could have been thrashed out that would have got through the Senate is another matter … Rudd has to know that the ALP brand is more toxic now then is has ever been – perhaps he spoke the truth on 3AW last Friday when he said he was a happy little camper being a back-bencher …

    I can’t have that – Gillard scarred him, humiliated him – and with an ego like he has his time in parliament is now about picking his moment for payback …

    Every vote on the floor of the House should be a conscious vote and this is where the two party system fails democracy. Americas are at their abyss because of the two party system and unless someone yields then it will be more of the same … man’s ego can no longer afford to write the cheques these Legislators keep spending …

    The Gillard horse whip has her caucus all tucked up drugged on Gillard love … unless the Independents do what the ALP caucus can’t bring themselves to do – it will be more of the same … Abbott has to show the electorate he has something to offer … Gillard gets the better of him on so many issues and in the House … I cringe for the man and it does take so sort of man to get up and give Gillard what Gillard so freely dishes out to anybody who tries to dump on her …
