Title:
– Political and Media ‘Noise’ –
– Altering The meaning of the word ‘Misogynist’ –
| Author: EYE-BALL Opinion | 21st Oct 2012 |
In the time lapsed since Gillard lost her mettle in using the ‘misogynist’ speech to vilify her personal misandry has created efforts to change the meaning of the word ‘misogynist’.

What a ‘croc’ – the media and political commentators are now fostering suggestions that the international understanding of the word ‘misogynist’ be altered to suit its use in a political debate.  What happened to calling someone ‘dumb’ when they used a word out of context, or they completely misunderstood the meaning of a word when they used it in a debate as Gillard did.

The meaning of the word ‘misogynist’ –

  • www.dictionary.coma person who hates, dislikes, mistrusts, or mistreats women.
  • www.thefreedictionaryNoun – One who hates women. Adj – Of or characterized by a hatred of women.
  • www.oxforddictionaries.comNoun – the hatred of women: Origin: mid 17th century: from Greek misos ‘hatred’ + gunē ‘woman’

Wanting to change the dictionary meaning of a word would be Gillard’s gift to the Western world … what a joke!

It’s a society gone bonkers … if you use a word that does not mean what or expresses the truth in what you are saying – don’t use the word, find a more appropriate word …

The problem with Gillard’s use of the word in her speech – reflected her hatred for men who she believed had a hatred for women.   Her hatred (misandry) clouded her judgement and contributed to her ‘rant’ …

Abbott is not a misogynist – he may be sexist and of a view that women have issues men don’t … that is not misogyny … Gillard was out of line and it’s time the world told her so.

Educators are not facing the use of the word in playgrounds and in social interaction and are having to explain how a Prime Minister used a word she does not know the meaning of.

For the sake of sanity … if you don’t like someone, grow a brain and use words already in the language designed to convey your feelings and at the same time retain the respect the Parliament represents and deserves.
