– Poor – Poor – Peter  Slipper –
– The Pumpkin Eater cries crocodile tears in court –
| Author: EYE-BALL’s Harry’s Growl | 6th Oct 2012 |
We all have a particular loathing of the disgraced Speaker of the House – Mr Peter Slipper.   But given the past and current profile of his persona, and the current ‘sexual allegation’s’ currently being heard in the Federal Court – this ‘human headline’ just keeps making us ‘cringe’.

Be gone – fall on your sword you worthless piece of crap – stop the Australian taxpayers agony – for god’s sake get a colonoscopy and feel the cleansing.   What shame he must bring to his family and his children, and to whatever friends he might still have.

What makes a man like Peter Slipper tick – does he have no conscience over how he is viewed by his peers, and the Australian electorate at large.   His corrupted track record is a matter of public record – yet despite all the abuses and ‘spankings’ he has received from his Party, and his Parliamentary colleagues over the years – he continues to flaunt himself as if he is an untouchable.

The contempt he shows the Courts in the current proceedings, i.e. how he coerced the Attorney General to give him special access privileges so as to avoid the media horde awaiting his entrance when he arrived at court, proves he has no shame or sense of accountability.

For the AG – Nicola Roxon to grant his request for such a private access – only shows the lengths what this Government will do to appease those whocontinue to keep them in office.

As reported in a previous post last week – Mr Slipper has already booked another Government funded overseas trip for later this year that will cost the taxpayers another $170 odd thousand – as did his trip earlier this year.

That trip was taken whilst stood down as ‘The Speaker’, and whilst still drawing the full remunerations attached to ‘The Speaker’ position,  and also whilst preparing for his destiny with the Courts to defend the ‘sexual harassment’ charges leveled against him.

How could this Government allow and sanction somone who is facing court proceedings over ‘sexual allegations’ be allowed to represent this Government on a taxpayer funded jaunt?

His ‘crocodile tears’ performance in the Court yesterday was summarised in the following story:

Slipper ‘distraught’ over claims

| Author: Leo Shanahan | Date: 6th Oct 2012 | Link to On-Line Story. |

PETER Slipper appeared a broken man as he attempted to defend himself yesterday against sexual harassment allegations and have the Federal Court throw out the claims.

In a highly emotional plea to the court, the stood-aside Speaker of the House of Representatives made submissions on his own behalf, saying he was “distraught” over the sexual harassment allegations brought by a former staffer he “thought was a friend”.

“Your Honour, it’s really hard for me to express how upset I am over the last six months since these proceedings have been filed,” Mr Slipper said.

Close to tears, he apologised to judge Steven Rares for “expressing emotion one perhaps shouldn’t express in court”.

“I am beside myself,” he said.

Mr Slipper said the allegations were not only an attempt to ruin his political career and ruin him financially, but also to “destroy his marriage”. “I love my wife, Your Honour,” he said.

Mr Slipper recounted tales of how James Ashby came into their lives, saying he was often a guest in their home. He told the court he was “gobsmacked” about the allegations, only becoming aware of them when he checked his iPad at 3am on an overseas trip and “saw an email from Harmers (the law firm representing Mr Ashby)”.

“Mr Ashby never raised with me any level of concern,” Mr Slipper said. “The relationship in the office was very polite, very pleasant. That was the first indication I had that Mr Ashby was in any way aggrieved.”

Mr Ashby alleges that, while he was working as an adviser to Mr Slipper, the Speaker sexually harassed him, sending him explicit text messages and making sexually aggressive remarks. While Mr Slipper claims the suit is vexatious and an abuse of process, the commonwealth settled with Mr Ashby late last week for $50,000, leaving the Speaker to fend for himself after parting ways with the ALP-linked law firm Maurice Blackburn. Mr Slipper maintained yesterday there was a “conspiracy” to ruin him and bring down the government that was being perpetrated by the Liberal National Party and his chief political rival, Mal Brough, who has since been preselected for Mr Slipper’s Queensland seat of Fisher.

He told the court he thought Mr Ashby could have been “planted” in his office, and claimed he heard that Mr Ashby told others a week before the allegations were aired that “something big is about to happen, this is about to bring down the government”.

Justice Rares yesterday reserved his decision on whether to throw out the allegations against Mr Slipper, but said his version of events was not supported by the evidence given to the court.

The judge was also critical of Mr Ashby for bringing allegations of misuse of Cabcharges vouchers against Mr Slipper in his initial application — only to withdraw the allegation from the statement of claim — saying it was “very very troubling”. Justice Rares noted Mr Ashby said he witnessed Mr Slipper hand over three taxi dockets. “It’s a long jump from that to say there was anything improper or illegal,” he said. “It’s not something that seems to me to be something (Mr Ashby) can say justifiably alleges this is a breach of contract.”

Mr Ashby’s barrister Michael Lee SC said what Mr Ashby wanted was “a finding determining that the relevant conduct occurred”.

The case continues.

These revelations and Slipper’s self-defence conduct in the Court is testing the patience of everybody concerned.  He represents the worst of what our elected Leaders represent and it is on full display for all to see.

The fact that PM Gillard supports this man and wants him to return to The Speaker role, as does Independent MP Tony Windsor according to a statement he made last week subject to him being cleared of all charges – linked here – thus giving the PM the added breathing space she needs to hold onto Government in a ‘hung parliament’ – can only reflect on her own personal credentials, morality and integrity.

Yet she still survives – shame on all Politicians who allow this to continue.
