[Pasted from Wikipedia]-
‘Detachment’ is a chronicle of one month in the lives of several high school teachers, administrators and students through the eyes of a substitute teacher named Henry Barthes (Adrien Brody).
Barthes’ method of imparting vital knowledge to his temporary students is interrupted by the arrival of three women in his life.
His life gets more complicated when he takes in a teenage prostitute called Erica (Sami Gayle).
If ever a movie could portray what is wrong with modern society through the eyes of our children – this movie does a damn good job.
The American education system gets all the blame for what kids turn out the way they do. This movie turns the focus on the real problem – parenting and the abandonment children to fend for themselves in an ever increasing world of despair and loneliness.
This is not a movie that will win awards in the sense of popularism – it’s a movie that requires a mindset to see and digest what is in front of you – not to walk away because the images are too confronting.
This movie is a wake up call to understanding how society arrived at ‘skid row’ and how it looks from the next generations perspective.
