EYE-BALL’s Snoop-Poop on – The NRL deal with the Nine Network and Foxtel.

Title: The NRL deal with the
Nine Network and Foxtel.
I’m not sure if anyone else has ever asked this question – but why does Foxtel have the right to replay all weekend NRL matches – and does so in the days following the weekend matches and including the Channel Nine games – yet Channel 9 does not show any of the games from the weekend matches it did not televise. Surely this is a question all free to air fans want answered.

  • Is it that Channel 9 sees no value in replaying resulted matches – Foxtel obviously does –
  • is it that the NRL deal with both Foxtel and Channel 9 has a prohibitive clause – then why can Foxtel show the Channel 9 games and Channel 9 does not show the Foxtel Games –
  • is it that Foxtel provide all broadcast right and Channel 9 buys the right off Foxtel to televise the games it does –
  • is it that the Games allocation – i.e. which carrier televises which game carries copyright issues – again the question would be why is Foxtel allowed to televise the Channel 9 games?

As Free-To-Air sport broadcast by free-to-air channels diminishes – i.e. no free-to-air carrier showed a frame of this years British Open Golf – a first in many decades – surely those who do not choose to have pay for view should be given the opportunity to watch their own NRL teams every week – be it on replay on the free-to-air network.

I think it is very difficult for Snoop to be an expert, when he obviously does not see all the games (hence my ctitism of his ill informed comments). The pay for view is obviously not a choice for a lot of people, they simply cannot afford it !
It would seem to me that it is in the NRL’s interest to see all games replayed during the subsequent week, even heavily edited highlights and the digital alternative channels are a logical answer.
I would think ( laterally) that a 2 hour show of edited highlights, focusing on the best and most entertaining games would be a pretty interesting package. What are we talking about 8 games at 5 minutes for the worst rising to say 20 minutes of the best. seems like a showcase to me? It would include current statistics, competition points, leading pointscorers ect. It could even be a download from the NRL website with a simple access fee or sponsor?

Make it a DVD (it can include 3 hours of content and wrap up of the “footy show” or equivalent league show, with a weekly contest for viewers to participate in) and have the DVD available in Rugby League week as a packeted item (its nothing to produce a DVD these days) and you have a ready made collectors item of the seasons football and a wonderful review item. it further gives another form of delivery of the game to meet with the needs of the “cyber” market and away from the tradional print and TV media.Let Apple have a crack it as a itune item?

This type of promotion could work very well and maximise the return that the owners of the rights would have to increase their investment.

You have my permission Snoop to resend this to the NRL and also increase your limited knowledge of what happens every week. not to mention your terribly informed player ratings when you pretend to understand SOO.

Two hour edited highlights of the weekend is about as good as the Daily Telegraph or Herald Sun or Courier Mail reporting of their own self interest. It truly makes me sick how Daily Telegraph needs to carry on about Souths (the rabbitohs) their core consituency.

Each day we observe, all headlines are equally abused.

Two years ago when Parramatta met Storm in a now very questionable grand final the Murdoch press had lead stories like; Get behind Parramatta for the sake of NSW, or get behind Melbourne Storm to break the NSW nexus (lead story in Melbourne or Qld).

What is irrefutable is Storm are cheats. They are owned by News Corp. They were stripped of 2 comps. There was no other team who assumed their title.

Should Storm win the title in 2011 (which is highly likely) they are still a team based upon cheating. They play a game that challenges the laws. (see grapple tackle, or chicken wing tackle, and so on).

Is it OK that this debate actually grows and gets beyond myopic bovine excreta. Murdoch press is the nemesis of bloggers.

Get off your soap box edit applied

Your comments have no functional value and you have not addressed the rationale of the original blog.
Tell me what do you think you have achieved with your negative comments, other than getting shit off your liver. Wake up! address the issues!
I’m a parra supporter (yes I know pain) and I’m over the Melb thing, just look at going forward positively, hence the ideas put forward.

    Ghost of Yoda –

As someone who teed off on relevance in your last comment – your initial comments were also terribly misguided and off topic – you went into a rant over what Channel 9 should do – highlights etc and a DVD – it was all non-related – the post was about free-to-air access for all NRL games basis what Foxtel do with the NRL games they don’t show live –

Please remain civil in your responses – censorship is an option purely to keep the human bile of hidden anger and frustration out of your comments – be witty and critique your responses if you wish – but personal attacks using slug comments are not welcome.

I will not use your blog site again, as the last thing I need is a lecture from a “pratt”.
Are you blind? there is more bile and anger in your comments, than anything I said ( I spoke the truth…you wouldn’t know the truth?) The relevance I spoke of was to agree with you that it would be in the interests of the NRL to have free to air replays. You in your myopic vision could not see this…..I went on to try and offer a solution…albeit partial by way of the NRL promoting the game and being proactive… this drew no comment other than your vitrolic and bile…not to mention your censoring process of not wanting to listen to someone who replies in the same vein that you use in all your blogs…ie heavily critical and personal……if you can’t handle the critism…get off the pot!!!

You are one dumb motherf_cker … the League Legend was a third party comment – yet you use your shinning feminista ego to prance like a poodle alfa-male to make your bruised ego feel better …

Wankers like you only like the sound of their own voice – any one else’s opinion is something you want to try and crush if it challenges or confronts you … you like so many other ex-market operators have never made the adjustment needed to be civil – tolerant or ordinary …

An old friend comes back into your life and you immediately respond – but in the end all you can do is use that friendship to strutt and posture … this site will not miss your contribution – so please feel free to make the exit as you choose …

just read your xxxx, can’t you see your hypocrisy??? You have personalised the issue because you have repeatedly shown you have not read the comments properly….this is my point….you are blind to the issues and the nature of the comments…..you are like the speaker in the house…ie you cannot moderate and seperate your opinions…you cannot see the wood for the trees.

Now stop and settle down!…get a hold of yourself….and please note for the “umpteenth” time that the market, wether as an ex operator or otherwise has nothing to do with it….its you who are still living in that fantasy world.

How many times have I tried to tell you that when the old guys get together, the market and the individual roles within it, are never discussed.

If you came and tried to rhetorically tell people that they were lousey market operators and are not entitled to opinions, then you would be made unwelcome and you would remind them that you are the same old xxxxx Please try and forget such references and treat things on their merit.

This is what i have continually tried to teach you through this renewal exercise……Please try and listen

Is this Ghost of Yoda for real?

“This is what i have continually tried to teach you through this renewal exercise……Please try and listen.”

Will this Yoda please take my title “of messiah or just a naughty boy”.

Quite frankly I am struggling to deal with the title of “messiah or just a naughty boy” after my ressurection, I am happy to part with all pretension.
