Snoop-Poop on SOO Game III …
State of Origin – Game III: QLD 34 – NSW 24 … Series WIN QLD …

The QLD State Of Origin Captain made history tonight as did his QLD teammates. Forever the man in a crisis – QLD controlled the game from the outset and never took the foot off – their opening 35 minutes was as perfect as any team could play.

Darren Lockyer – forever the MAN – forever QLD’s favourite son did his fans proud – and the fans paid him back in spades by staying to enjoy his farewell lap of honour.

The tensions all QLD felt pre-game and during the build-up was released when Inglis scored the first try – that relief led to three more try’s as the QLD pack let loose and applied the ‘squeeze’ and dried up NSW possession.  The game was all over by the 35th minute 24-0 and NSW were looking for that Lang Park hole that so many teams have searched for at the cauldron over many past seasons.

This was the QLD performance we had all been expecting and as the points rolled on the relief abated … yet there was another twist that gave NSW supporters heart when they scored two tries in the last five minutes of the first half.  It was a tease for NSW fans because Ricky had no more rabbits to pull out of his ass during the half-time talk.  The game played out its inevitable conclusion and to NSW credit they never gave up the ghost – they were just outplayed by a far superior team …

CROW QLD’S – CROW – CROW – CROW!!!

NSW can’t play …

NSW can’t play …

NSW can’t play

to coin Alan Langer’s St George victory song of many years ago …

Did the Jarred Hayne bubble burst tonight – he was hardly seen until late in the 2nd half … what about Mitchell Pierce’s ‘best half-back’ in the world tag – seen floating down the Brisbane River just after full-time – when will NSW learn that QLD is where it’s at … where does RIcky Stuart go now … he used every trick he knew and still came up short – snuffed by his own ego to try to save NSW with tom-foolery … good old front forward play won the day – Gallen as predicted could not repeat his Game II performance – nor any other NSW player for that matter.

Were they overawed – hardly given the posturing Ricky though was necessary …

The player ratings applied at the beginning of this series were right in the end – and to all the doubters – QLD 6-0 … now for 10-0 as the reign tries to set a new benchmark …

My score sheet had seven instances where the Referees call went against QLD from the 2nd minute through to the 73rd.  The first was when Smith chased his own kick and made the tackle and was ruled off-side – the last was the Hannant try where they ruled that Thiaday’s effort to push Hannant over the line breached the rules – what a friggin’ joke … it looked like the the fix was on early … but them the game unfolded and the Ref’s knew it would be too obvious to continue with their folly to try and even the match up …

The sad ending to the night was Thurston‘s season ending injury … absolutely feel for the guy and what it means to the Cowboys and their season …

Well done QLD … better luck next year NSW –
