The KINDERGARTEN Government – 4th July ’11 Update …
Thought of the Day: …
Question Time in the Australian Parliament has descended to fracas … in fact it resembles a Kindergarten assembly where two year olds have taken charge and the Teachers have thrown their hands up in despair … do you agree … if so read on …
The highest chamber in the land continues to demonstrate its contempt for the position each Member of the House of Representatives owes the Australian constituency.  The first question asked by the Opposition Leader during today’s Question Time was as expected on Carbon Tax – yet when the camera panned away and showed the Opposition Front Bench– the Deputy Opposition Leader was seen to be either texting or tweeting on her mobile device …

Why are Members allowed to carry mobile devices into the Chamber?

Mr Turnbull’s idleness is consoled by his Chamber access to his trusty and faithful iPad – and with the electorates knowledge of why he sits idly on the Opposition Front Bench – why would he not be bored with proceedings and uses the time to do much of his Electoral work that needs to be done.

However – is this administrative tasking in the Chamber used by many Members – an abuse of what the Chamber Question Time is to serve?  How many Members have mobile devices with them in the chamber?

If the Chamber was a closed Chamber – where external factors were never a consideration – would the conduct within the chamber perform more in line with its charter?

At the 30 minute mark during today’s Question time – the Speaker had warned several Opposition Members – ejected a Member and called ORDER on no less that 70 times and counting …

These 150 HOR misfits – masquerading as Political Leaders and representatives of the Australian constituency – and the term misfits aptly describes the overall conduct performance of this Parliament – self-police their own behaviour.  They are accountable only to their own standards – yet when this behaviour is viewed externally – it is nothing but an embarrassment to the process of Democracy and Government.

The props in this abomination of a gaggle gathering are the questions being asked by Government Members that allow the Government to politicise its response along the lines of its policies.  These questions suit the Government’s purpose and not always the interests of the Australian People – it ends up being a sellathon of Political policies – one side promoting and the other side trying to score points with questions targeting policy weak points.

Perhaps that is the foundation of true debate – but when the Government who is always answering the question – never really answers the question – the continued descent in expectations from these Leaders leaves no choice other then for the electorate to become disenchanted.

This is further compounded when letters are written to Members from both sides looking for their answers to appropriate questions go ignored and never responded to.  It’s as if they feel no accountability to anyone other then the Party they represent.

That is not Democracy – and the democracy practised in this Parliament is not in anyway representative of the true understanding of Democracy –

That is commonly expressed as:

A Government by the people, for the people and of the people …

If the HOR Members currently sitting in this Parliament are of this breed – then DEMOCRACY as we know it is clearly on the backside of a ride to its ultimate demise  …
